Everybody wins a good time at our weekly bingo! This longstanding tradition on Tuesday nights offers a great chance for people from all over the White Horse Village community to meet and mingle. Thanks to volunteers Bill Moore, Dave Johnson, and Tom Stretton for making it possible each week. Bill verifies winners and dispenses cash prizes, Tom sets up and runs the technology, and Dave is the caller, warming up the crowd with jokes before the games.

Congratulations to Jamila Brown on her promotion to project cleaning coordinator! “Jamila has demonstrated great leadership and responsibility,” says Jeff Stott, senior director of Property and Facilities. “In a very short time as a supervisor, she has dedicated herself to customer service and setting a standard that all other team members can look up to.”

Did you know there’s a free resource at White Horse Village for those whose loved ones are dealing with any kind of dementia or other changes that leave them in need of extra care? The Caregiver Support Group meets the third Tuesday of every month at 1:30 p.m., backed by the expertise of the Alzheimer’s Association of Delaware Valley. Congratulations to Melissa Stamp on her recent promotion to nutrition coordinator in Healthcare! Her supervisor Lindsay Bowles says, “Melissa was an easy choice once the position became available; she cares deeply about the residents and knows them better than pretty much anyone. I know she’s going to bring her compassion, positive energy, and great work ethic to the position.”

Wow, what an amazing outpouring of support from residents in this year's Employee Appreciation Fund drive! The community gave more than $240,000 to the White Horse Village Foundation to benefit our team members, a 28% increase over the previous record set last year!

In this season of thanks, we are so grateful for the way residents support our team members and show appreciation for all they do. Congratulations to Nancy Hopko and Sally Richardson for organizing this campaign for the foundation!

It was a privilege to hear recently from Chief Dennis Coker of the Lenape Indian Tribe of Delaware! He told the story of the tribe's 25-year effort to secure state recognition in Delaware, and how that compared with the Lenape experience in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Thank you, Chief Coker, for taking the time to share with us and answer questions!
