"You are something that the Whole Universe is doing, in the same way that a wave is something that the Whole Ocean is doing..." ~Alan Watts
“People normally cut reality into compartments, and so are unable to see the interdependence of all phenomena.” ―Thich Nhat Hanh
"The soul given to each of us is moved by the same living spirit that moves the Universe." ~Albert Einstein
"As soon as you say that you are an individual, illusion is very happy to distract you from your real nature and to keep you inside her institutions." ~Sri Siddharameshwar Maharj
"Your True Nature is something never lost to you even in moments of delusion, nor is it gained at the moment of Enlightenment. It is the Nature of the Suchness. It fills the Void everywhere and is intrinsically of the substance of the One Mind. Above, below and around you, All is spontaneously existing, for there is nowhere which is outside the Buddha Mind." ~ Huang Po
"Empty yourself of everything. Let the mind become still. The ten thousand things rise and fall while the Self watches their return. They grow and flourish and then return to the Source. Returning to the source is stillness, which is the way of nature." ~Lao Tsu, Tao Te Ching
“A human being is part of a whole, called by us the ‘Universe’ - a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts, and feelings, as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” ~Albert Einstein
“Be as simple as you can be; you will be astonished to see how uncomplicated and happy your life can become.” ~Paramahansa Yogananda
"We do not come into this world; we come out of it, as leaves from a tree. As the ocean waves, the universe peoples." ~Alan Watts, 'The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are,' 1966

“We can reject everything else: religion, ideology, all received wisdom. But we cannot escape the necessity of love and compassion. This, then, is my true religion, my simple faith. My religion is kindness.." ~ Dalai Lama

it super hot and humid in the next few days around here! Please, mind the temperature change between inside and outside, some people do not adjust well to temperature fluctuations.
To stay cool and hydrated:
- add mint, lemon and cucumber slices to your water
- coconut water is a great way to stay hydrated
- enjoy watermelons - they are in season and are a great way to hydrate!
- Avoid temptation to go for icy drinks - stick to cool drinks closer to room temperature
- sweating is a natural way to lower temperature, this is why in the hot desert Bedouins would drink tea! Add ginger and aromatic spices to your food, it helps with circulation and with digestion!

Contrary to what some may tell you - herbal medicine and acupuncture are very well researched adjunct treatments for oncology patients. My patients often have to get approval from their pharmacist for the formulas I prescribe.
Here is a great resource to help you discuss integrative approach to treatment of cancer with your medical team - from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center website:
Our Integrative Medicine Service offers a range of wellness therapies that are designed to work together with traditional medical treatments. Visit us today.

Train ride to NYC and I will be spending my weekend in a great class - studying acupuncture for traumatic brain injury and concussion! This is one of my favorite topics!

Friends, check out January-February issue of Consumer Reports magazine. There is an article on natural cures and it is a good write up , pointing out that Acupuncture is recommended by American College of Physicians as a therapy for back pain. Not that we did not know this already, but it is always nice to get a shout out!

When a Vision became a Plan, and a Plan became a Reality
In my journey towards understanding myself, and finding my true calling, I went from asking myself such questions as: “Why am I here?” “What is my purpose?” “Who am I?” to realizing, that all I ever wanted to do is to help bring people to a place of balance. Whether this is balance in their personal lives, in their professional endeavors, or in management of their health and wellness. While being a willing participant of a busy, intense, stressful life of Silicon Valley, I felt more and more drawn to the helping, healing, supportive aspects of my job as a high tech executive. I started coaching and mentoring other leaders, and at the same time - I was studying various forms of yoga, Qi Gong, and searching for the answers to the same questions: “Who am I, why am I here?”.
It is through this process, that I came to a realization, that I wanted to study Chinese Medicine. It is through becoming sick myself, sick from stress and intensity of my busy corporate carrier, managing family life and raising 3 kids, that I learned how much our life-style choices - how we eat, how we sleep, how we choose to spend time, and most importantly, how we process stress - can impact our health and wellbeing. My journey toward understanding myself, which is impossible to separate from my journey to heal myself, led me to becoming a Chinese Medicine practitioner. My desire to help others, combining all the richness of this beautiful medical framework, led me to my vision of creating The Sage Place.
I met Devin while we were still in grad school. We very quickly grew to liking and understanding each other. I experienced what Devin can do as a massage therapist, and after sharing a lot of classes with her, I knew instantly, that I wanted to work with Devin. She has warmth and compassion that is a must in a healing practice, her understanding of human body is unmatched, and most importantly - she is just as passionate as I am for helping our patients, for creating healing space, for finding solutions to our patients’ wellness needs.
We are fortunate enough to share space with a fantastic chiropractor Deb Mosca, who has been running her practice for over 25 years and not only has a ton of experience, but also has a huge heart.
We are growing every day, we are learning every day, for us - this is not a job, this is a calling, a life’s work, and we are happy to share our knowledge and our passion with our patients.
