One of our favorite areas to talk about is our fascia (aka the liquid nervous system). We like to explain fascia using the analogy of a clementine. If you peel iff off a small piece if the rind, you find the thick white coating inside. This is like our first layer of fascia below the skin. Rub it and it feels moist. This is how healthy fascia is but due to aging (everything dries out), stress, heredity, and lifestyle we move towards dehydration. Our liquid nervous system becomes more like drops of dew on a spider web. This can lead to relay issues from brain to body, pain, and general medical and mental health issues. Healthy fascia means better body/brain connection. Self massage, massage, fascia rolling, yin yoga, dry brushing, and other techniques can support healthy fascia.
