We're pleased to share that Sydni Walden, APRN, has joined Saint Joseph Medical Group – Pediatrics in London and Primary Care in Corbin. Walden, who spent the past five years of her career as a nurse in Saint Joseph London’s intensive care unit, says she is thrilled to continue serving the area and that she practices patient care with an empathetic, compassionate approach, rooted in her passion for supporting others.

“I know the fear and uncertainty,” she said. “I want families to know I will listen to them and be empathetic. I’m not just here to provide medical care – I’m here emotionally as well. My goal is to meet patients where they are in their health care journey, care for them as if they were my own family, and build relationships with them as I watch them grow and celebrate their milestones.”

Welcome to the team, Sydni!

We are excited to share that Saint Joseph Medical Group – Cardiology in London has welcomed Syed Rashid, MD, to its team.

Dr. Rashid joins the London team from New York City and brings a deep passion for cardiology. He earned his Bachelor of Science in life science from the University of Toronto in Mississauga, Canada, before completing his medical degree at Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland. He went on to complete post-graduate training and research at several medical centers in New York.

At the core of Dr. Rashid’s patient care philosophy is trust and collaboration. “The most important thing is building a relationship where the patient trusts you. It’s important for patients and doctors to work together rather than telling the patient what to do.”

Welcome to the team, Dr. Rashid!

Think breast cancer only affects women of a certain age? Think again. While annual mammograms are standard for women ages 40 and up, breast cancer rates are alarmingly on the rise for women under 40. Early-onset breast cancer is often caught at later, harder-to-treat stages because routine screenings start later and symptoms can be easily missed.

Don't wait. Know the subtle signs like lumps, skin changes or ni**le abnormalities. Perform a monthly breast self-exam to check for visible changes, lumps or hard spots. Understand your risk factors, including family history. Lastly, spread the word – early detection is key, and with your help, we can raise awareness about the importance of breast screening.
