Meet the newest member of the SMCAS crew — Ms. Sally! 🐶

Multiple crews were dispatched several times over the course of a couple weeks to an address for a lift assist. Each time, crews were greeted by Ms. Sally. Unfortunately, her dad died suddenly, leaving mom to realize taking care of Ms. Sally alone wasn't a task she could safely achieve. With no one to step in and help, mom opted for assisted living, leaving her no choice but to surrender Ms. Sally to a foster home.

SMCAS crews found out about this and team member Keegan went out of his way to make Ms. Sally a station dog. With time running out and efforts exhausted, Keegan adopted Ms. Sally as his own. Little did he know he had a whole slew of coworkers behind him who have welcomed her to SMCAS.

Her emotional support role in the short time she's been around has been worth her weight in gold (and she's a potato with legs). We're so happy Ms. Sally's mom can rest easy knowing her beloved pet is taken care of and SMCAS personnel are overjoyed Keegan stepped up and has willingly shared Ms. Sally with the crews.

We had a great time celebrating our Stars of Life last week! Thank you both for your tireless dedication to serving our community. Let's hear it for Zachary and Kayly! 🎉

⭐️ Zachary Davis became part of the SMCAS team in 2023, bringing with him a unique blend of experience and enthusiasm. Trained as an EMT in Utah, Zach previously served as a Wilderness Therapy Field Guide—a role that honed his resilience, empathy, and ability to thrive in dynamic environments. At SMCAS, Zach plays a key role in shaping the employee experience by leading first-day orientations for new hires. His welcoming presence, positive attitude, and professional demeanor help set the tone for a culture rooted in respect, teamwork, and excellence. Whether in the field or at the station, Zach’s contributions continue to strengthen the fabric of our organization. We’re proud to have Zach on board and grateful for the energy and leadership he brings to our team.

⭐️ Kayly Probst has been a dedicated member of the SMCAS team since 2019. As a Paramedic, she consistently demonstrates skill, compassion, and professionalism in her care for the community. Her commitment to patient-centered service makes her a valued asset to our organization. In addition to her fieldwork, Kayly serves as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher for the local 9-1-1 Center. This dual role has been instrumental in strengthening collaboration between dispatch and field operations, helping to bridge organizational gaps and enhance the continuity of care. Her ability to navigate both environments with precision and empathy exemplifies the kind of leadership and versatility we strive for at SMCAS. We’re proud to have Kayly on our team and grateful for the impact she continues to make across our service area.

We can't wait to celebrate our Stars of Life tomorrow!
