Here is a fantastic and SIMPLE explanation of what happens to muscles when tight and how we use orthopedic acupuncture to release the trigger points holding in toxins.
The 24-48 hours of soreness (similar to workout soreness) is normal and to be expected. Toxins being released into the tissues and being well hydrated helps to clear this faster.
The first treatment is always the most “stuck” and typically the most uncomfortable. However, our patients quickly find that the small amount of discomfort is nothing compared to the stabbing/sharp pains and restricted movement they came in with.
Also notice: That nerves are the “brain” of muscles. If the muscle is pinching off blood flow to nerves we will experience numbness and tingling. If it goes on long enough, nerves will be “starved” and begin to die off creating peripheral neuropathies. In this case, we need to open the area first, then create more blood flow to the area via internal medicine acupuncture (different than orthopedic acupuncture) as well as nourishing the tissues with proper diet, herbal formulas, and many other modalities that we add in to quicken the healing process.
Did we mention we LOVE nerding out on this? 🤓
