๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿถ Suburban Hospice Volunteer Spotlight! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’œ

Some of our amazing Greenfield volunteers (Phil, Angel, Jamie (our Volunteer Coordinator), Barb, and Cathy) recently spent time with the residents at Springhurst Memory Care, and it was such a heartwarming visit! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Not all of our volunteers could join us that day, but those who did brought plenty of smiles โ€” and so did Elsa (Cathy's wonderful puppers), our sweet comfort care dog (not a โ€œtherapy dog,โ€ but just as full of love! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’ž).

The residents absolutely loved the visit, and weโ€™re so grateful for our volunteers who give their time, compassion, and joy to brighten someoneโ€™s day. ๐Ÿ’

๐Ÿ’œโœจ Happy Spiritual Care Week! โœจ๐Ÿ’œ

This week, weโ€™re celebrating our incredible chaplains โ€” the heart of comfort and compassion here at Suburban Hospice. ๐Ÿ™

A chaplain can be the companion you didnโ€™t know you needed โ€” offering kindness in difficult moments, comfort in times of loss, and hope when life feels heavy.

We are so grateful for our gifted chaplains, Josh Schreiner and Charlie Ketchen, who share Godโ€™s love every day through peace, music, prayer, and presence. ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ’œ

Thank you both for the light, faith, and comfort you bring to our patients, families, and team โ€” you truly make a difference every single day! ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒธOctober is Breast Cancer Awareness Month ๐ŸŒธ

At Suburban Hospice, we stand beside the fighters, celebrate the survivors, and honor the loved ones weโ€™ve lost.

This month is a time to raise awareness, offer hope, and remind everyone of the importance of early detection. Schedule your annual screening, perform regular self-checks, and encourage the women in your life to do the same โ€” because early action saves lives. ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿฉท

To all those walking this journey โ€” you are not alone. Our team is here to provide care, comfort, and support for patients and families every step of the way.

Together, we can spread awareness, strength, and love. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’—

Right Time, Right Team, Right Care

For nearly 30 years, our Suburban Hospice team (formerly Hancock Regional Hospice) has provided compassionate and expert care for hospice patients and families in Greenfield, IN and surrounding areas. When curative treatment is no longer an option, hospice provides patients and families with the multifaceted support they need to make the most of their time together. Our expert RNs, HHAs, social workers, and chaplains care for the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the last weeks and months of life.

Earlier this year, our hospice was recognized by Strategic Healthcare Programs as a โ€œPremier Performer,โ€ achieving a survey score from families we served in 2018 that puts our program in the top 5% of hospices in the nation. โ€œOur familiesโ€™ responses resulted in our program beingโ€ฆthe only hospice in Indiana to achieve that rating. We worked hard this year to be sure our families were receiving the right amount of emotional and spiritual support and also as much training in how to care for their loved ones as they wanted. We talked more about the side effects of medication and about what to do when our patient seemed uncomfortable and how to recognize that. Those efforts clearly meant something to our families because the scores in those areas were even better than the year beforeโ€, said Jeannie Crowe, Executive Director of the hospice program. โ€œThis award helps us know that the care we provide to our patients and our families makes this very difficult time just a little bit easier and that means everything to us!โ€

On October 1, 2019, we officially became Suburban Hospice and have expanded our service area to include Riverview Health in Noblesville and Witham Health Services in Lebanon. We look forward to continuing our great tradition of compassionate, expert, and personalized care throughout Central Indiana.

If you have questions about whether hospice care is right for your family, please call us at (833) 888-7222. We would be glad to explain care criteria and explore care options with you.
