It’s that exciting time again—our Board of Directors election season is here!

We’re looking for three passionate leaders to join our Board for a 3‑year term of service. This is your chance to help guide our mission, strengthen our community, and keep our nonprofit thriving.

Here’s how it works:

SNC members may nominate a candidate (including yourself!) using the QR Code below or this link: https://forms.gle/sHcVAcGWB85NHYMx6

The Election Committee will take care of the details— gatherin bios, candidate profiles, and setting up the voting process.

Nominations must be submitted by December 7 so we can launch the candidate website and get ready for voting.

Serving on the Board is more than a role—it’s a service opportunity to make a lasting impact. Whether you know someone with vision, dedication, and heart, or you’re ready to step up yourself, now’s the time to act.

Nominate today and help shape the future of our organization!

With gratitude,
Derrick, on behalf of the Election Committee

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change..." The opening words of the Serenity Prayer provide guidance as we deal with life's nuances.

Suburban North Club has been honored to be home to the original manuscript of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. Since the Prosperity Drive building's grand opening in May of 2022, SNC has housed the historic document generously provided by Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay.

Since Mr. Irsay's passing, his family decided to auction many items from the Jim Irsay Collection, a large group of unique memorabilia Mr. Irsay had accumulated during his lifetime. One of those items is the Big Book manuscript.

While sad to see it go, it was always understood the manuscript was not "given", but “loaned”, to SNC through the generosity of Mr. Irsay's dedication to the recovery community. The current location of SNC would likely not exist without the financial gift and support of Mr. Irsay.

The presence of the original document has been a blessing to many in recovery. Visitors from around the country have come to SNC to see it. In many instances, the manuscript, located in the club's "Gallery", has served as a valuable introduction to SNC.

Today, when visitors enter the "Gallery," they’ll see that the original Big Book manuscript has been replaced with one of the few other surviving multiliths known to exist worldwide. The document now on display is the only one known to feature the signature of AA co-founder Bill Wilson.

While the departure of the Irsay-owned manuscript is a noted change, the "Gallery" remains home to many remarkable pieces of AA history, sparking countless stories of recovery that deserve to be told. These items are generously shared with SNC by the Mayflower Foundation which is one of the largest private collections of historic recovery literature and artifacts in the world, assuring the "Gallery" will remain a must-see for those in the recovery community.

While change is inevitable, there will remain one constant: SNC will continue striving to provide a welcoming environment that will be a catalyst to recovery for all who seek it.

In service,
Your Suburban North Club Board of Directors

The Suburban North Club Annual picnic is on 05Oct and we hope you will join us for some fried chicken, hot dogs, and fellowship, at Forest Park Shelter 5

SNC is providing the food and it will be ready for you by 1 PM. Would you bring a side dish or dessert to share? And bring a friend! We will have the dunk tank going again.

While you are there you can renew your membership. If you aren't already a member of the Club, you get a discount when you set up your membership at the picnic.

See you there!
Derrick

At Suburban North Club we are committed to safe recovery for all. That even includes our parking lots!

On 25 August we are starting a maintenance project in the parking lot that will help ensure our parking is in tip top shape for years to come. This means there will be instances of limited parking and a bit more noise than normal. While we hope this will be minimal, we also hope that everyone can be patient with the process. The Club will remain open during its usual operating hours. The project is scheduled to be completed on 28 August.

This is being funded by some generous donors and we extend our gratitude for this support.

In service,
Kip

We have arrived at the start. It is a bit of a jumping off point, but this one feels exciting even if nerve wracking. Breakfast and then off we go 🥾

Weathet today will include rain and winds at about 15 mph. We will start our day at a damp 50 degrees Fahrenheit and it wont raise past 70. It will be mostly cloudy all day.

The journey from St Bees to Ennerdale bridge is about 14 miles and it should take us at least 7 hours. For those in the Noblesville area, this is the equivalent of walking from Suburban North Club to Wilson’s Farmer’s Market. We will grab some video and photos along the way.

We’re thrilled to share something big with you.

A few weeks ago, we announced that we are embarking on an extraordinary journey: a walk across England to raise funds for Steps for Recovery, benefiting the Suburban North Club. It’s a challenge that spans miles, countries, and hearts—and we’re inviting you to be part of it.

To celebrate this adventure and bring you along every step of the way, we’ve launched a blog: https://www.suburbannorthclub.org/steps-for-recovery -blog

Our first post is live! We’ve completed our training, and we’re ready to take on the English countryside. The blog will be our space to share stories, photos, and reflections—from the trail to the triumphs. We hope you will join us in each step along the way.

Your support means the world to us. Whether it’s an existing donation or one you are planning, a social media share, or a word of encouragement, every bit helps us move closer to our goal of supporting recovery and community.

Thank you for taking this journey with us—literally and figuratively.

With gratitude,
Jamie and Bill

Thanks to the incredible generosity of early supporters, we’ve reached 35% of our $18,200 goal for the Steps for Recovery campaign. That’s a huge step forward—but we still need your help to go the distance. If you have already pledged, would you consider forwarding this opportunity to other possible supporters?

This fundraiser is more than symbolic. It’s essential. In addition to keeping the lights on and the coffee brewing at Suburban North Club, your donations will help cover unplanned expenses including:

$250 for plumbing repairs in the men’s bathroom
$1,000 to fix a broken window
$500 to replace a dead tree in the parking lot island
These are the kinds of costs that get covered in order to keep our space safe, welcoming, and open for everyone seeking recovery.

Here’s what’s ahead:

Pledges Due: June 23 (so we can order your thank-you shirts!)
We travel to England: June 24
The Walk begins: June 26
182 miles to hit our goal of $18,200
The Walk concludes: July 11
Donations Due: July 19
Thank-You Gifts Distributed: Week of July 21
Every mile we walk is powered by your support. Let’s keep moving forward—together.

A couple of weeks ago, we shared our dream: to walk 182 miles across England to raise $18,200 for Suburban North Club—$100 for every mile. This journey is about more than just steps; it’s about sustaining a space where recovery happens every single day.

We’re deeply grateful to those who’ve already pledged. Thanks to their generosity, we’ve reached 25% of our goal. But we still have a long way to go—and we need your help to get there.

Here’s what’s ahead:

Pledges Due: June 23 (this date allows us to order donor thank you shirts)
We Travel to England: June 24
The Walk Begins: June 26
The Walk Concludes: July 11
Donations Due: July 19
Thank-You Gifts Distributed: Week of July 21

Every dollar you give helps keep the lights on, the coffee brewing, and the doors open for the next person seeking hope. Your support directly funds the essential operations that make recovery possible at SNC.
