💓 Heart Health = Life Health (and it’s not “just an older adult thing,” bestie)

If you’ve been diagnosed with a heart condition—or you’re recovering after a hospitalization—Home Health can help you stay safe, rebuild strength, and prevent setbacks.

Here’s what that can look like:

🩺 Skilled Nursing Support
Our nurses can help with:
🔘Monitoring blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen levels, swelling, and symptoms
🔘Medication education (what it’s for, when to take it, and what to watch for)
🔘Heart failure education + “red flags” to prevent rehospitalization
🔘Support after hospital stays or changes in your condition
🔘Teaching you how to track daily weight and symptoms the right way

💪 Therapy to Build Strength + Endurance
Physical and occupational therapy can help you:
🔘Improve stamina safely (without overdoing it)
🔘Reduce fall risk (fatigue + dizziness are no joke)
🔘Learn energy-saving strategies for daily tasks
🔘Get back to walking, stairs, showering, cooking—without feeling wiped out

🍽️ Education that Fits Real Life
We can help you build habits that actually stick:
🔘Heart-healthy nutrition tips (hello, sodium awareness 👀)
🔘Movement plans that match your current ability
🔘Stress and sleep strategies to support your heart
🔘Understanding “your numbers” so you can take control

🤝 Coordinated Care
We communicate with your provider and care team to help ensure:
🔘Everyone is on the same page
🔘Changes are addressed early
🔘You feel supported—not overwhelmed

Your heart is basically the engine that keeps everything running—your brain, your lungs, your energy, your healing, your ability to do the things you love. When your heart isn’t working at its best, your whole body feels it… and the scary part is that heart issues don’t always come with big warning signs.

That’s why heart health matters now, not “someday.”

💬 If you or a loved one needs support managing a heart condition at home, Suburban Home Health is here.

❤️ Hearts for Hospice | Heart Health Awareness Month ❤️

February is Heart Health Awareness Month, and it’s also an important time to talk about how hospice care can support individuals living with advanced heart disease.

End-stage heart failure can often look like sudden decline followed by brief periods of recovery. Despite advances in treatment, hospital readmissions remain high. Hospice care can make a meaningful difference by focusing on comfort, symptom management, and honoring end-of-life goals, while also helping reduce unnecessary hospitalizations.

💙 Hospice care can help manage symptoms such as:
• Shortness of breath
• Chest pain
• Increased fatigue
• Weakness and decreased activity tolerance
• New or increased oxygen needs

Hospice eligibility for advanced cardiac disease is based on documented progressive decline and resistance to therapies.

If you or someone you love is facing advanced heart disease, our Suburban Hospice team is here to help guide, support, and care with compassion.

💙 We are so proud of our very own Sarah Bradley!

During the recent Central Indiana freeze, Sarah Bradley represented Suburban Health at Home in a local news interview, sharing important insight on how to help protect our community’s most vulnerable neighbors during extreme cold weather.

Sarah spoke about the importance of preparation, awareness, and looking out for those who may be at higher risk — including older adults and individuals with health challenges — when temperatures drop. Her compassion, knowledge, and commitment to community education reflect exactly what Suburban Health at Home stands for.

🤍 Moments like this remind us that care doesn’t stop at the front door — it extends into our neighborhoods, our conversations, and the way we show up for one another.

Thank you, Sarah, for being a trusted voice and for helping keep Central Indiana informed, prepared, and cared for.

🌟💙 New Employee Spotlight 💙🌟

Please join us in welcoming Sara Wilson to Suburban Health at Home! Sara is an Occupational Therapist serving on our Hancock Home Health team, and we’re so excited to have her as part of our Suburban family.

After encouragement from two former (and now current again!) colleagues over the years, Sara decided it was finally time to make the move to Suburban. Following a brief pause for medical reasons, she reflected on what she truly wanted in a workplace—feeling valued, appreciated, and confident that her work makes a meaningful difference. She’s happy to share that she has found exactly that at Suburban Health at Home.

What motivates Sara each day is the strong teamwork across all disciplines and the genuine gratitude expressed by our patients, which she finds both uplifting and deeply rewarding.

🐾 Fun fact about Sara: She volunteers weekly at a local animal shelter and has fostered over 30 cats and kittens in the past couple of years! One especially memorable experience included fostering a pregnant momma who delivered her babies in her sunroom—leading to a “foster fail” and the adoption of an entire litter of orphaned sisters. 💕

We’re so glad you’re here, Sara—welcome to the team! 💙

🌟💙 New Employee Spotlight 💙🌟

Please help us welcome Cecelia Smith, Adult Nurse Practitioner, who has joined our Suburban Hospice Palliative Care team!

Cecelia’s journey to Suburban is a deeply meaningful one. She chose to work with Suburban after a personal experience with our hospice team during her husband’s care. The compassion and exceptional support she and her family received—from Suburban Hospice and the nursing staff at Hancock Regional Hospital—left a lasting impact. When this opportunity became available, Cecelia saw it as divine intervention and a chance to pay that care forward by serving others alongside this incredible team.

Before joining Suburban, Cecelia built a diverse healthcare background working in cardiology, cardiac surgery, administrative roles, and most recently primary care. Today, her motivation comes from witnessing the compassion, competence, and genuine care our nurses, social workers, chaplains, and administrative team provide to patients and families every single day. She says they inspire her—and we couldn’t agree more.

✨ Fun facts about Cecelia:
She has an abnormally wacky sense of humor, loves painting watercolors (and just about any artistic medium), and once lived in a haunted home! 👻🎨

We are truly blessed to have Cecelia as part of the Suburban Hospice family. Please join us in welcoming her to the team! 💙
