In honor of Doctors’ Day, the Riverview Health Medical Staff chose to support a local charity instead of providing small gifts to providers. Our team proudly presented a donation to Nancy Chance, Founder and Executive Director of the Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County.
The Good Samaritan Network was chosen due to their like-minded mission of supporting individuals and families in need across Hamilton County, in addition to their ability to connect people with essential resources. Furthermore, Nancy served at Riverview Health for 54 years and founded Good Samaritan Network during her time here, leaving a legacy rooted in service.
Giving back to our community is core to who we are, and this donation reflects our dedication to strengthening our community.

On May 10, 1909, Hamilton County’s first hospital opened for business. Dr. Samuel Harrell, the son of a Shelby County farmer, chose the city of Noblesville, Indiana, to build a hospital in which he and his brother, Dr. Madison Harrell, could practice medicine. The three-story Harrell Hospital and Sanatorium was located on Ninth Street one-half block north of downtown Noblesville.
In 1914, Harrell Hospital and Sanatorium was sold to Hamilton County and renamed Hamilton County Hospital. In 1944, to meet the health needs of a growing population, hospital trustees purchased land west of Noblesville from Mr. Charles Swain. The pioneer statesmen had lived on this site, reportedly named Federal Hill.
Construction of a new hospital began in 1949. On May 12, 1951, the new hospital opened. Shortly thereafter, in 1952, the hospital was renamed Riverview Hospital as an homage to its location along the banks of the White River.
Throughout the years, Riverview Hospital continued to expand, with additions and improvements made to the main hospital campus, plus the addition of a wide range of specialties, technologies and services. In April 2014, Riverview Hospital was officially renamed Riverview Health.
Riverview Health is now comprised of a full-service, 156-bed hospital in Noblesville and a hospital in Westfield with 16 beds. Also included are 23 primary, immediate and specialty-care facilities in Hamilton County.
Within the Riverview Health system, more than 350 physicians—many of who are board-certified or fellowship-trained—provide healthcare services in 35 medical specialties. Their expertise, coupled with exceptional specialists and nursing staff, is one of the many reasons we’re frequently recognized for clinical and service excellence.
Our goal is to provide compassionate, patient-centered care to everyone in our community. We continually promote a progressive, nurturing environment—and support our community through educational seminars, screenings and other events aimed at helping you and your family stay well.
