Today we remember Jesus.

His sacrifice.
His suffering.
His love.

On Good Friday, we reflect on the weight of the cross and the grace that was given through it.

What looked like the darkest moment in history became the greatest act of love the world has ever known.

Because of Jesus, there is hope.
Because of Jesus, there is redemption.
Because of Jesus, this is not the end.

And it is that same hope we hold onto and share with every life we encounter through Mission to Ukraine.

Stitch by stitch, Sofiia is creating more than embroidery đź’›

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy, even the smallest hand movements take incredible effort, focus, and perseverance. But in this special embroidery class, Sofiia is doing something powerful — she’s creating with her own hands.

Each stitch helps strengthen her muscles, improve coordination, and build confidence. What may look like a simple activity is actually therapy, growth, and determination all woven together.

Alongside a caring volunteer, Sofiia is encouraged every step of the way, turning challenges into victories and effort into something beautiful.

Because for Sofiia, this isn’t just embroidery… It’s proof that she is capable, strong, and able to create something meaningful.

On the anniversary of the full-scale war in Ukraine our team gathered in a special time of prayer and remembrance. In the midst of deep trial we united our hearts to entrust our nation and our future to God. We believe that even in the darkest times the light of Christ does not fade.

We prayed for protection and strength for the soldiers and for comfort for the families who have lost loved ones. We also lifted up the churches in Ukraine asking that they remain places of hope and light for all people. We continue to pray for wisdom for our leadership and for a peace that brings restoration to our land. Thank you for standing with us in faith from the United States as we rely on God's deep mercy and grace.

Our Just Because project is a special space of care and connection for mothers facing difficult circumstances in Ukraine. During a recent workshop focused on self care, these women learned about skin health and valuing themselves as God’s unique creations. This time together was about more than appearance; it was about restoring their inner strength and embracing the dignity they have in Christ.

In addition to the workshop, the mothers gathered to read the Bible and reflect on the truth of the Gospel. Through these open conversations, they are finding the peace and answers that only God’s love can provide. Your support from the United States helps us provide these moments of rest and spiritual renewal for mothers who give so much to their families.

The joy of the Lord is our strength and we see it shining through the children in our Beside You program. Our students recently took a break from their lessons to enjoy the simple gift of a sunny winter day and the excitement of sledding together. These moments of play are a beautiful reflection of the specialized care and Christ like love they receive at our rehab center in Ukraine. Your support from the United States helps us provide a safe place where these children can experience both learning and the pure joy of childhood.

When we encounter difficult circumstances, God often introduces us to people who remind us that true strength is found in the quiet acceptance of His grace. We have the privilege of knowing Snizhana, whose journey after a spinal injury has inspired everyone at our rehab center in Ukraine.

Snizhana initially hoped for a quick recovery, but she has since embraced a long and courageous journey of healing. Her victory is not found in returning to the past, but in the ability to love herself and honor God here and now. We see the light of Christ in her every small movement and every smile. Your support from the United States allows us to walk alongside Snizhana as she discovers that she is fearfully and wonderfully made, regardless of the pain.

Massive Russian attacks today on Ukraine. Zhytomyr being hit. This photo was taken by one of our staff members looking down the street from where she lives. Please be in continued prayer!

The enemy struck the center of Zhytomyr. A two-story residential building was damaged. Windows were broken in nearby buildings. The fire was quickly localized by rescuers. According to operational information, a 12-year-old girl was injured as a result of the attack. She was taken to the hospital, where she is receiving the necessary assistance.

Together with their teachers the children created beautiful trees covered with snow to celebrate the winter season. The classroom was full of focus and creativity during their lesson today. The most exciting part of the day is always when the class ends and the children meet their parents with genuine happiness and joy. At Mission to Ukraine we love seeing these moments of connection and achievement.

Daria Shevchenko’s story with Mission to Ukraine began in 2015 when she was just 10 years old, serving as a junior leader’s assistant at camp. She quickly realized that the love those children gave her was far greater than the love she was trying to give them. That experience planted a seed that grew into a lifelong calling to become a special education teacher.

After years of volunteering and university studies, God opened the door for Daria to return as a teacher’s assistant in our "Beside You" program. Through the Love of Christ, she has seen Him make the impossible possible, giving her the strength to support both children and their families. To Daria, the Mission is more than a job, it is a family where we carry one another’s burdens and serve as one.

In our clay modeling club led by Dasha Shevchenko, creativity becomes a bridge to the heart of our homeland. Young Sofiya recently crafted a clay picture of an ear of wheat, a powerful symbol of the richness, traditions, and enduring strength of the Ukrainian people.

As she learned new modeling techniques, Sofiya did more than just create art. She connected with the deep beauty of our country, expressing her pride and love through every detail. This club is much more than a simple workshop. It is a sacred space where even a small child can feel like an essential part of a great and resilient Ukraine.

Every smile, every laugh, and every bright-eyed gaze is a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. At Mission to Ukraine, we believe that every child is a gift, and every mother deserves the support to choose life.

Through the power of faith and the hands-on care of our team, vulnerable mothers are finding the guidance they need to move from fear to hope. These children are the living proof of what happens when compassion meets dedicated action. We aren’t just celebrating "new beginnings"- we are witnessing God’s grace unfold in the lives of families who now look toward a future filled with joy.
