This is long, but a good summary of the sort of logic we need to be using at this stage of the pandemic - evaluating the risk of a given situation and adjusting our masking/distancing/sanitizing accordlingly.

Sure, you don't have to wear a mask on airplanes, buses and ride shares anymore, but you still might want to depending on the circumstances. Here's what experts say about the risks.

We haven't had much to post for awhile. But this is important. Covid is here. Covid is real. And it is sneaky and nasty. Even "young, healthy" people get much too sick from it. Even mild Covid can have lasting consequences. Please take all the sensible precautions that you can.

"Latest surge in coronavirus cases reportedly being driven by casual occasions
The Washington Post (11/12, Brulliard) reports, “A record-breaking surge in U.S. coronavirus cases is being driven to a significant degree by casual occasions that may feel deceptively safe, officials and scientists warn – dinner parties, game nights, sleepovers and carpools.” Earlier in the pandemic, many “coronavirus clusters were linked to nursing homes and crowded nightclubs,” but more recently, “public health officials nationwide say case investigations are increasingly leading them to small, private social gatherings.”

One of the things we've all been doing since we flattened the curve is expanding our social bubbles in various ways - risking a carefully-masked trip to the grocery story, having distanced outdoor gatherings, creating a "pod" of people as a sort of extended family to socialize safely with. Unfortunately, the bigger your pod/social bubble, the higher the risk that Covid-19 can sneak in. Here are a couple of resources about "bubbles" and "pods" and things to keep in mind: http://dhss.alaska.gov/dph/Epi/id/Pages/COVID-19/bubble.aspx and https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/wellness/pandemic-pod-winter-covid/2020/10/14/214ed65c-0d63-11eb-b1e8-16b59b92b36d_story.html
