EVMS Foundation Board members providing support following Hurricane Helene

When Randolph Hoover, CEO of Xylem Tree Experts/Kendall Vegetation Services and EVMS Foundation Board of Trustees member, learned of a need for insulin after Hurricane Helene, he immediately contacted fellow board member, Aubrey Layne, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Sentara Health. Both understood the urgency, with Layne’s healthcare background and Hoover’s mother a type 1 diabetes patient at the EVMS Strelitz Diabetes Center.

The two companies partnered with the Schaubach family, owners of Johns Brothers Security, Inc., who provided a helicopter to quickly deliver insulin to Asheville, North Carolina, and surrounding areas. The Xylem team is involved in power restoration efforts following the storm, and many employees have been participating in humanitarian efforts and delivering needed supplies daily.
