April is Occupational Therapy Month 💙

Our OT team marked the occasion with a hands-on Open House, giving staff a closer look at the impact they make every day. From splints to adaptive tools, buttons, and wheelchairs, team members had the chance to explore the equipment our therapists use and experience it firsthand.

We’re so grateful for our Occupational Therapy team—helping our residents stay healthy, build independence, and fully participate in the moments that matter most. 💖

In doing so, we mixed up one important detail: Patrick White, our Dietary Services Manager, served in the Coast Guard, not the Navy (and yes… we know that’s a pretty big deal 😅).

Today we're highlighting Kid2Kid! 🎊👏

This group was started BY kids, FOR the kids at St. Mary's Home. Through Kid2Kid, Hampton Roads youth participate in activities by raising awareness and contributions to benefit St. Mary's youth. The real difference can be seen one child to one child, one smile to one smile.

✨Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week!👏 Each day, we will be celebrating one of our amazing volunteer groups who bring joy to our residents and staff.

💕The Auxiliary Board of St. Mary's Home is a group of community members dedicated to supporting the enrichment of the children and young adults of St. Mary’s Home and The Albero House through outreach, volunteering, and fundraising.

The Auxiliary has funded, among other things, two wheelchair accessible vans, respiratory therapy vests, defibrillators, and many field trips and activities in our Home.

Spring Break, but make it a rodeo 🤠🏁

While everyone was home from school, our residents turned the halls into a full-on raceway! From walking to biking to zooming through the building, the energy was unmatched—and the cheers from friends and teammates made it even better 🙌

Huge shoutout to our Physical Therapy team for bringing this event to life and creating such a fun, collaborative experience for everyone 💪💛
