Eastern Officials Association Baseball Umpires

In 2025 EOA held our first meeting of the year on January 12. We had 15 training sessions (not including new umpire training) before the first pitch of the VHSL season. Throughout the year, we offered our umpires over 70 hours of training and many participated in a large number of those hours.

Our last games this year were November 16, 2025.

That’s 11 full months of baseball. Our guys have earned some time off to recover and prepare for 2026!

I want to thank all of our umpires for every game that they worked (approx 7,000) so that kids could play baseball in the 757.

I’d like to thank all of the teams who gave us the opportunity to be around the sport. An overwhelming majority of the players, coaches, and parents in our area are wonderful supporters of ours. They treat us great, they have our backs to maintain a safe environment for us, and they understand that this game is for the kids and we all just get to be part of it.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season! I can’t wait for new things in 2026!n

Presenting the EOA Baseball Bob Hood (Umpire of the Year) 2025: Frank Eduardo

We are very proud of Frank. A great umpire on the field and even better guy off the field. Frank never complains, he never turns back games. He goes anywhere we ask and is a shining example when he’s on the field. Frank worked his first state quarterfinal game this year and we are proud of the way he represents our association. Congratulations Frank!!

We had a great time at today’s all-umpire first ever EOA Classic golf tournament! Thanks to all the guys who came out to play. Info coming in the next couple months on our big golf tournament in the fall of 2026! Stay tuned!!

Good luck to American Legion Post 280 in the World Series championship game tonight! Just proof of the talent of players and coaches in the 757 area. We are proud to work with you all throughout the year.

As umpires, we don’t often get to cheer so tonight we join the rest of the 757 in cheering for these guys!

Our friends at UMPS CARE Charities have created a pledge to promote the safety of umpires. While we recognize competition breeds passion and all of us love being around that type of passion, we also recognize the need for umpires to work in a safe place and to be able to be arbiters of the game who take a fair and neutral stance. Virginia has recently made abuse of sports officials a criminal offense and we stand strong in the safety of our umpires.
