RESISTANT STARCH ⬇️
SCFA (short chain fatty acids)⬇️
GLP 1 (glucose like peptide)‼️
What are they & what do these all have in common?
Naturally, our bodies biochemistry produces GLP-1 in smaller doses than a prescription drug like Ozempic; but without the uncomfortable side effects.
Resistant starch:
carbohydrates that RESIST digestion in the small intestines, acting as fiber to feed the good gut bacteria.
Examples:
Green unripened bananas 🍌
Beans/lentils 🫘
Cooked/cooled: rice, potatoes, pasta🍠🥔
Eating these resistant starches create SCFAs (short chain fatty acids) BUTYRATE, acetate & propionate. These SCFA, especially butyrate act as signaling molecules that’s stimulate enteroendocrine L cells to release gut hormones, which includes GLP1 & PPY (peptide YY or pancreatic peptide YY)
➡️ Butyrate signals the release of GLP 1, which controls our satiety hormone LEPTIN, our hunger control system. (🛑 stop I’m satisfied )
Starting with your plate is an easy way to naturally control hunger & lose any extra weight.
P.S. The BONUS with cooking/cooling potatoes, rice, pasta before eating is a lower glucose hit, keeping our A1C in check. ✅
