CINCH’s Black Maternal Health Equity Action Alliance (BMHEAA) was proud to be represented by our Outreach Coordinator, Kimia Allison, and McKenzie Creekmore at the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Baby Expo!

This event brought families together to connect directly with community partners and resources. From giveaways to interactive activities, it offered support for those expecting a baby or navigating life with a newborn.

BMHEAA’s goal at the Expo was to introduce our Alliance and share how we are working to strengthen support for Black maternal health across our communities. We’re excited for the work ahead and the partnerships that will continue to move maternal health equity forward.

Calling all Black Birthing families! Share Your Birth Story!

We're making a guide called "Roadmap for Black Women Navigating Pregnancy with Confidence." We're also collecting birth stories from Black families in our area. We'd love to include your words and photo in the guide!

Please email us at CINCH@odu.edu with your name and contact info. Tell us (in 1-2 sentences):
How making a birth plan helped your birthing experience OR how being flexible when things changed helped you
A time when you spoke up for yourself during birth and how that helped you
Your words might also be shared on social media to help keep Black births safer

Black families often face unfair treatment in health care during pregnancy and birth. We're working to change that by listening to your stories. This survey helps us understand what Black families go through during pregnancy, birth, and after the baby comes. Your answers will help us make things better for Black families in Hampton Roads, Virginia.

If you are a Black birthing person or family member who has given birth in the last 3 years in Hampton Roads - Please take our Black Birthing Family Voices Survey: https://evms.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6PeQBYHiM37O9MO
