Center for Children & Families (CCFI)

Center for Children & Families (CCFI) Healing Children. Empowering Youth. Strengthening Families. CCFI is a United Way of Norman partner.

At the Center for Children and Families (CCFI), we offer strength-based programs and services to aide and educate families coping with abuse, neglect, divorce, separation, teenage pregnancy, a lack of quality out-of-school care, and/or other adverse experiences. Since 1969, CCFI has partnered with schools, neighborhoods, donors, public agencies, and families to provide education, prevention, and treatment services for families because we believe that every boy and girl deserves to grow up safe, nurtured and loved. While our continuum of care is broad, with services ranging in intensity, our focus has always been to ensure that all children have safe, secure, nurturing environments and caring adults in their lives. We know that an investment in the lives of children today saves lives, preserves families, reduces crime, improves educational results and provides the best possible future for our economy and our community’s health.

As we enter this season of gratitude and giving, we invite you to reflect with us on the remarkable transformations unfolding every day at CCFI.

Thanks to your support, this past year we achieved the following:

• Healed 200 children through complex trauma counseling services, with 94% better understanding their feelings through therapy.

• Served 25,098 meals and snacks, providing food security for 216 members of Boys & Girls Club of Norman.

• Distributed 176,710 diapers to over 6,000 caregivers, a 25% increase from the prior year.

To continue these efforts, we hope you will consider investing in brighter futures by making an end of year donation today.

For the past two weeks, CCFI and Irving BCGN members have been participating in activities focused on educating them about important aspects of Native American culture.

During the first week, members explored Native American traditions through a trivia game, learned how to play an alternative version of lacrosse, created bead art representing the Three Sisters crops (corn, beans, squash) and decorated their own teepees.

In the second week, members studied the 39 tribes of Oklahoma and the Five Civilized Tribes. They created informational posters and tribal cards representing tribes from each of the 50 states.

To conclude the two weeks, members enjoyed a tasting of cornbread and wojapi, offering an authentic introduction to foods with Native roots.
