I continue to be amazed and beyond proud of our students’ progress and growth. A special thank you to Tiffany Weissbrodt for capturing so many beautiful moments last week. We are thrilled to be offering Variations this summer with Claire Hutchinson! Claire trained at the School of American Ballet (SAB) in New York City’s Lincoln Center.

In Variations, students learn to transform technique into art. Excerpts from a variety of classical and contemporary ballets will be used to develop each dancer’s unique musicality and performance quality. In addition to learning the ballet’s choreography, we will dive into the provenance to identify influential choreographers, composers, and dancers throughout history. Students will practice both performing for and providing feedback to their peers, all with the goal of developing a greater understanding of what makes a variation come to life on stage.

To be eligible for this new class, students must also be registered for Elementary and /or Intermediate/Advanced Ballet. Summer classes start Monday, July 7th. Register today! https://creativesoulberkshires.com/youth-program/registration/

New Adult Summer Schedule starts Saturday, July 5th. We are excited to announce a brand new class, NIA! NIA (Neuromuscular Integrative Action) is a conscious dance practice that was developed 40 years ago with the guiding philosophy that wellness begins from the inside out. The barefoot practice is a blend of dance, healing arts, and martial arts that delivers a range of movement qualities, self-reflection, and insights that easily translate into our daily practices. Each one-hour session offers participants a different focus and somatic intent to inspire their body, mind, and spirit. Proud and honored doesn’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling. I am so proud of all of our students who performed this past weekend. The confidence, passion, and energy they brought to the stage, you would never have known that many of them were performing for the very first time or had not performed in years. It is one thing to watch a dancer’s technique improve over time; it is entirely another to watch their self-esteem grow and their joy overflow. Thank you for reminding me why this work is so important.
I was honored to be surrounded by so many incredibly talented guest performers and production crew. From the dancers, to the musicians, to circus artists, lighting, and sound designers, I watched backstage in awe of you sharing your gifts so freely with our audience. What a beautiful display it was of the immense local talent in our area. This is a hard show for me to let go of. I have never worked harder or poured more of myself into a performance. Thank you for allowing me to make mistakes, to learn, to grow, and to take new risks.
Once again, to my husband, my family, faculty, students, guest performers, parents, production crew, volunteers, and generous audience, thank you for baring your creative soul.
