Big congratulations to Huiling who ran the Chicago marathon a few weeks ago!

Huiling put in a lot of hard work to combine strength training with running to keep her legs strong and prevent injury… which was a success!

We mapped out our training to gain lower body strength, build muscle, and improve single leg balance plyometrics to ensure that she was in peak performance.

There’s nothing better than these post-race feels >> “I’m very proud I ran a sub 8 min pace for about 16 miles”

Strength training = strong legs
Strong legs = strong running 💪🏻

Discipline vs motivation

If we solely relied on motivation in life to do things until we “feel like it”, many things we do every day would be pushed to tomorrow and never leave the “to do” list.

Like doing the dishes, taking out the trash, scheduling an oil change, folding laundry…

Same goes for the gym. If you relied solely on motivation to hire a trainer, sign up for group training, or go to the gym only when you felt like it, chances are it would happen much less frequently or not at all. It requires discipline.

That’s how we are here for you. If meet us halfway and bring 50% discipline by getting started and showing up, we will bring 100% motivation and accountability to every session so that going to the gym doesn’t feel like a chore.

A little inside peak of what our training looks like at Irwin Fitness 👀

These are all unilateral movements - using one side of the body at a time. Single limb training is huge in our programs because our bodies are constantly moving one side at a time.

Yes we need to be strong using both sides, but we only can be as strong as our weakest link.

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to be a sponsor at The Future of Workplace Wellness Conference.

This conference highlighted how nutrition, exercise and sleep are drivers of peak employee performance and wellbeing.
