One of our residents wrote a short story and asked to share it with others. Enjoy πͺΌπ
βHello, my name is Charlie Jellyfish!
I am here visiting my childhood friend, Jimmy.
Many years ago, we all lived in Seattle by the beach. One day, little Jimmy invited me to his home so we could watch the Jaws movie. Mother Scott would be away playing bridge. Jimmy picked me up in his little red wagon and when we got home, I sat in the kitchen sink while Jimmy and his brothers got things ready. Little Timmy made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches while he watched me (I asked him please not to serve tuna fish sandwiches). All was well until Mother Scott arrived home early and saw me in the sink. She freaked out and started looking for the butcher knife. She got distracted by the peanut butter and jelly mess Timmy was making.
This gave Jimmy and Patrick time to grab me and head for the pantry. They stuck me in a jar of pickles so Mother couldnβt find me.
Later that day they put me in the wagon and took me home. My daddy had been frantic with worry. When he pulled me out of the jar, he noticed my tentacles had changed color. Three were pale yellow and the rest were bright shades of orange. He tried dipping me in the neighborβs swimming pool but that didnβt work. When my jellyfish pals saw me, they loved my new colors, so I have set up a pickled juice factory. We sell sweet, dill, and hot mustard pickle juice. It is the new teenage jellyfish fad.
Anyway, since all my family has moved to Canada, Jimmy has asked me to live with him at Inland Point Retirement Village (wow, what a nice place). He has given the couch to me and has promised not to put me in the sink again.β
