Happy Monday! Start your week off right by checking in with yourself and aligning your thoughts, time, behaviors, and other resources towards what you feel is most important for you. There are many forms of self-care, and this list of questions can be a great start to ensuring you are acting intentionally and towards your own specific goals and values. Consequently, you'll likely start feeling more like yourself!

This issue often comes up when clients attempt to break harmful patterns within family dynamics. We might feel relief and happiness, and at the same time, guilt or sadness. This is normal! If dynamics are dysfunctional, chances are it will not be easy to challenge what others may be trying to perpetuate. However, with time, you can learn to let these difficult emotions come and go as you decide what is best for yourself.

A reminder that grief is present in many other forms than just mourning a death. From an injury that prevents you from being active, to cutting off toxic family members, to deciding you want to change your career path, you may not be mourning only what seems has been lost, but also what could have been. We often hear about gaslighting as something others do to us, but have you ever noticed a time in which you have begun to deny your own reality or feelings? This likely occurs as a defense that you've adapted that once helped you, however, it ends up being damaging to your mental health by putting down your emotions rather than validating and processing them.

If you notice yourself using similar phrases to the above, it can be helpful to ask yourself where this self doubt comes from, as well as to try to find ways to be compassionate and provide validation to yourself. Whatever you are feeling, there is a reason for it, and you deserve to take the time to understand and cope with your responses.
