TenJet Patient Story: “TenJet gave me renewed optimism.”

Megan M., a runner from Cleveland, OH, struggled with chronic tendon pain in her hamstrings for over fifteen years. Read this Q&A with Megan to learn about her experience with TenJet.

HydroCision: What led you to seek treatment with TenJet?

Megan: Living with chronic tendon pain for over fifteen years wore me down both physically and emotionally. The pain started with long-distance running/marathons, and I ultimately had to give running up altogether. I was forced to pursue other forms of fitness. I took up pickleball a year or so ago, but only for a short period of time because I experienced even more pain in my hamstring tendon areas. This pain was unbearable and I couldn't sleep at night.

HydroCision: Had you tried other treatments?

Megan: Yes, I started working with an orthopedist and physical therapist. I tried conservative treatments such as PT, ART, ice, rest, massage therapy, and was on prescription pain medication for three months. I was not making any progress, so after three months my orthopedist suggested TenJet.

I was looking for an option that addressed the root cause of the problem, and that is how I learned about TenJet. When my doctor mentioned TenJet, it felt like a turning point. What immediately resonated with me was how targeted and minimally invasive the treatment is. This option finally gave me hope. My doctor highly and confidently recommended TenJet. He has had high success rates with his patients.

HydroCision: How was your experience with TenJet?

Megan: The procedure itself was easier than I expected, and recovery was manageable. More importantly, it gave me peace of mind knowing I had taken the right step toward healing and getting my life back regarding physical fitness. Choosing TenJet was not just about treating my tendons, it was about getting my life back physically, mentally, and emotionally. All the providers who were part of my orthopedist's team made my experience so positive and gave me hope that I would eventually be able to resume the fitness activities that I enjoy.

HydroCision: Do you have any tendon pain now?

Megan: Yes, I still have some pain but not necessarily daily. If I push myself too hard during my workouts or work out more than a certain number of days per week, then I will experience some pain and tenderness. I am still monitoring it and mindful of how often I can work out before I reach my pain threshold.

I experience little to no pain while sleeping. It has been seven months since I had TenJet and my orthopedist said it could take up to eight months to be completely pain free, given the areas that were treated being weight-bearing.

HydroCision: If you were to share something with potential TenJet patients, what would it be?

Megan: Choosing TenJet was not only treating my tendons, it was about getting my life back. You don't have to live with chronic pain and ongoing therapy, meds, or other treatments. TenJet addresses the root of the problem, not just the symptoms. It is a minimally invasive treatment and has a relatively quick recovery timeline compared to surgical options.

TenJet gave me renewed optimism. It offered a solution focused on healing the underlying tissue and helped me move forward when other treatments had fallen short over the course of fifteen years. I am so grateful to have had access to an innovative option with, in my opinion, the best care from providers at the Cleveland Clinic!
