Window of Tolerance < Window of Choice = An Alternative Perspective on Trauma Informed Language
Often in therapy, we work with clients on creating common language to communicate with others. A definition of a word from one person's perspective may not align with the other's. We can be saying the same thing, but have different interpretations. So how do we evolve? By remaining curious and open to understanding the intention, and awareness of the impact, of those words.
What are your thoughts on the langauge above? Shifting "Tolerance" to "Choice?" This example, which is exceptionally relevant in today's society, shows how we really explain and define words to grow in our ability to communicate. How does this explanation shift your perspective on the importance of intentional language?
