Convo with a new patient on her second visit:
Patient: i feel great but im sore is that normal?
Chirosense: it’s normal and temporary.
Explanation (in short):
Motion has been introduce to joints and muscle(alot of large and small muscles in your back) that were restricted or werent moving properly in a while. The adjustment causes muscle to relax, joints moce more freely, blood flow increases and neurosystem begins recalibration. This can feel like post 🏋️♂️ soreness.
Steps to reduce soreness:
Drink plenty of water(in general) but absolutely after and adjustment.
Keep moving, walking, light stretching and avoid heavy workouts for 24hrs.
Most patients feel less sorenes with each session and start feeing better as the body adapts. Soreness shouldn't last longer than 24/48 hrs and if it does let your chiropractor know, an adjustment to care plan may be required.
