We provide programs for both the family members and individuals with a mental health condition, all of those who seek support, education, and advocacy. The holidays can be hard, which is why NAMI Charleston is partnering with PLAG Charleston and We Are Family to offer a free art therapy visioning workshop. The event includes a guided meditation, multiple art mediums like collage and watercolor, light refreshments, and activities for kids and teens. Bring magazines to share and your loved ones.

Facilitated by Heather Dennis, a counselor and art-based healing practitioner with 17+ years of experience, using mindful art to inspire hope and joyful living.

Welcome our new Board President of NAMI Charleston, Tia Lewis!

Tia Lewis is the Clinical Outreach Program Coordinator at Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center. In this role, she engages in community events to spread the anti-stigma message, improve understanding of mental health to the community, and has presented on mental health awareness to organizations, companies, and religious groups to promote wellness and provide resources.

Tia is a trained clinician who specializes in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Trauma focused interventions and has provide evidence-based therapy to adult and children with chronic mental illness. She served on the Board of Directors for the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention- South Carolina chapter for 6 years and advocated for mental health awareness and su***de prevention for the stateof South Carolina.

Tia is a native of Philadelphia- PA/Delran- New Jersey, has a bachelor’s degree from Howard University, amaster’s degree from New York University, and a master’s degree from College of Charleston. She is a wife and a mother of two children, and a dedicated board member of National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Charleston Area.
