Thankful for plowed parking lots and that giant snow mountain melting just enough on those warm days to keep pushing, because paying to have snow hauled away feels personal. Like Mother Nature choosing violence.When there’s nowhere left to push it, you do what you gotta do.

As a Board Certified Light Therapist, senior staff writer for an industry magazine, educator, and national speaker, my entire career is built around one thing: understanding light, not just liking it.

A wavelength alone does nothing if the device is not powerful enough.
Light therapy only works when your body receives the right dose, measured in joules.
If a unit does not deliver enough power for long enough, the light never reaches the tissue at a therapeutic level, even if the wavelength itself is correct.
Think of it like this ☀️
Standing outside for 30 seconds at noon is very different than spending enough time in the sun to actually warm your skin. Same sun, very different results.

Throwing it back to a 2024 TikTok because this still needs to be said.
Overexposure is NOT tanning responsibly.
Overexposure is tanning more often than every 48 hours.
Overexposure is starting at too high of a time.
Overexposure is increasing time too fast.
Overexposure is tanning indoors and then going straight into outdoor sun with zero protection.
That’s misuse. Not tanning.
Moderate, year-round UV exposure without burning is what the research actually supports. Burning is the problem. Chronic deficiency is also a problem.
Smart exposure means: • Start low
• Build slowly
• Respect recovery time
• Match indoor and outdoor exposure
• Protect when exposure stacks
And yes, while we’re at it, blanket overuse of chemical sunscreens comes with its own concerns. Protection should be strategic, not fear-based or constant.
Sunlight is a biological signal, not a toxin.
Dose matters. Timing matters. Education matters.
Burning is harm. Moderation is health.

In the old Sunkissed Tanning Location! Sunny Shores Tanning & Treasures was born on February 10th, 2019. Long-time Manger, Kristin and her Husband, Mat, purchased the beds and assets from previous Owners Tom & Sandy of Sunkissed Tanning who decided to stop operations at the North East Location. Kristin had been managing the tanning facility for over 2 years when she was given the opportunity to buy the beds and start something new. It happened very fast but It was a no brainer to keep an amazing tanning facility in North East, her love and passion for customer service and her knowledge of SMART TANNING paved the way for this. We are constantly working to improve to the best we can be. Thank you for supporting local, family owned business!

Have you seen the new 800 square foot entrance? We have a new Sales/Reception desk, waiting area, unique retail experience for Health, Beauty, Jewelry, Clothing, Gifts & More! FRESH Lamps in all the bed and promise to keep the lamps fresh, always. We back up that promise with a color in a month guarantee and a no fade promise or else you get whatever you purchased last, free! We have space for more rooms/beds/features and that will come after the entire facility is renovated and of course in time as we are able to.

Our facility has 15 rooms! In those rooms we have Level 1 EX beds, Level 2 UXF beds, Level 3 VIPER beds, Level 4 Stand up Boothe, Level 5 KBL Alpha, Zero-Gravity Massage Chair with FDA approved red light wand and a Custom Spray Booth!
