Dr. Ceema Samimi from the University of Minnesota is conducting a study examining the use and understanding of seclusion in public K–12 schools and is seeking educators and school personnel who have worked in a public school within the past five years.
For this study, seclusion refers to the involuntary placement of a student alone in a room or enclosed space that the student is not free to leave.
The study explores experiences, training, decision-making, and institutional context related to seclusion practices. Participation involves taking part in a confidential, 90-minute focus group or, alternatively, a 60-minute individual interview.
Participation is voluntary, and may take place virtually or in person.
Participants will receive a $20 gift card as appreciation for their time.
