As we wrap up Self-Harm Awareness Month, we want to widen the conversation a bit.

Self-harm isn’t always obvious. It doesn’t always look like what people expect.

➡️ Sometimes it shows up as self-neglect.
➡️ Sometimes it’s pushing yourself past your limits, over and over.
➡️ Sometimes it’s the way you speak to yourself when no one else is around.
➡️ Sometimes it’s coping in ways that quietly chip away at your well-being.

If something is hurting you, even in small ways, it matters.

You don’t have to “prove” that it’s serious enough to deserve support. You don’t have to wait until it looks like a crisis.

But remember: you’re not alone. And you don’t have to figure it out on your own either.🫶

It’s okay to not be okay.
And when you’re ready, we’re here to help you find your better. 🧡

📩 DM or call us anytime, whether you’re just starting to question things or you already know you want support.📲 866-407-4832

They didn’t just enter the conversation… they changed it.

From trauma-informed care to public health policy to redefining what recovery even looks like, these women have shaped the way we understand addiction, healing, and the people behind it. ❤️

This isn’t just about credentials (though… there are plenty of those).

It’s about impact. The kind that ripples outward into treatment centers, communities, and real lives.

From Nadine Burke Harris’ groundbreaking work on childhood trauma, to Stephanie Covington’s gender-responsive models...

To Lois Wilson, who made sure families had a seat at the table, alongside leaders like Gloria Addo-Ayensu and Carolyn Rodriguez continuing to move the field forward...

We’re standing on some pretty powerful shoulders.
✨ Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all
✨ Lived experience matters
✨ The way we treat people matters

If you or someone you love is looking for support, our team is here. DM us or reach out anytime. 🤍 866-407-4832

🙋 We asked around the office: Who are you actually following when you want honesty, perspective… or just a laugh on a hard day?

These were the names that kept coming up. Women talking about recovery in ways that feel real, relatable, and (sometimes) a little (or a lot) unfiltered in the best way!

Whether you’re looking for insight, community, or just someone who gets it, these are a few voices worth having in your feed. 💚

We’re always here too. If you ever need support, have questions, or just don’t know where to start, you can DM us or reach out anytime. 🤍 866-407-4832

And if there’s someone you follow and love, drop them below! We’re always looking to add to the list. 👇

💪 Maddie Smith is Redefining Strength! 💪

No one talks enough about how isolating early motherhood can be.

For Maddie Smith, it started with postpartum depression, long stretches alone during deployment, and emotions she didn’t know how to handle. What followed was a shift from “fun drinking” to something heavier… something harder to control.

And like so many people, she thought a fresh start might fix it. It didn’t.

In this clip, Maddie shares how isolation, identity loss, and unprocessed emotions quietly fueled her addiction—and what finally helped her see it clearly.

🎥 Watch her full interview to hear the full story and what recovery looked like on the other side. https://loom.ly/3hOrI60

Did you struggle with PPD or have a partner who did? What's something you wish you knew? 👇

Sometimes, relapse can teach you something sobriety can’t.

It’s not something people like to say out loud, but if you’re willing to take an honest look, it can build real self-awareness.

👉 Understanding your triggers.
👉 Recognizing cravings without reacting to them.
👉 Finding new ways to cope in those moments.

❤️ And most importantly, leaning on your community.

Because recovery isn’t meant to be done alone. The people you surround yourself with can make all the difference, especially on the hard days.

If you’re struggling, or if someone you love is, know that setbacks don’t erase progress. What matters is what you do next.

Some stories are worth coming back to. 💚

As part of Women’s History Month, we’re revisiting voices from My Recovery Story—not just to celebrate where they are now, but to recognize what it took to get there.

When Madison entered treatment at our sister center in 2023, she was facing more than alcohol use. After weight-loss surgery, her relationship with food had shifted into drinking, and her health had declined so severely she could no longer walk.

She arrived in treatment in a wheelchair, unsure of what came next.

👉 If you’ve ever wondered how things got this far -- or if it’s even possible to come back from it -- you’re not alone.

Madison didn’t have everything figured out. She just kept showing up. Even on the hard days. Even when she doubted herself.

Over time, things began to shift. Strength returned, physically and emotionally.

❤️ Today, she’s back on her feet, raising her child, and building a life she once couldn’t see for herself. ❤️

⭐ Recovery doesn’t require you to be fearless. Just willing.

And choosing it? That’s its own kind of strength.

We’re honored to share Camp Happy Place an overnight summer camp in the Berkshires created for children who have lost a loved one to substance use.

🌲Designed for kids ages 8–14, Camp Happy Place offers a safe, supportive space where children can connect with others who understand what they’ve been through. Through traditional camp activities, like swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, and campfires, kids have the chance to build friendships, process grief in gentle ways, and simply enjoy being kids.

💙 Camp is completely free, with the goal of removing barriers so every child who could benefit has the opportunity to attend.

🏕️ If you know a child who may benefit, whether you're a parent, provider, educator, or part of a community organization, Camp Happy Place is currently welcoming campers for the 2026 season!

🧠 Alcohol doesn’t affect everyone the same, especially after bariatric surgery.

Our Medical Director at our sister facility in Southern California, Dr. Gary Mitrevolis, shared an important perspective that isn't often discussed.

He shared that after bariatric surgery, commonly referred to as weight-loss surgery, the body processes alcohol differently. It’s absorbed faster, can feel stronger, and may stay in the system longer. For some, that can increase the risk of developing an alcohol use disorder, sometimes even when drinking habits haven’t changed significantly.

This isn’t about willpower. It’s about how the body and brain respond. Understanding this can make a meaningful difference for patients, families, and anyone supporting someone in recovery.

💬 Have you or someone you know experienced changes with alcohol after surgery?

Behind so many moments of healing, there’s a social worker. 🫶

✨ The ones who sit in the hard conversations.
✨ Who help families make sense of the chaos.
✨ Who advocate, guide, and hold space, often without recognition.

Many of the people supporting our patients are licensed social workers, and their impact reaches far beyond our walls. Every day, social workers are on the frontlines in communities, helping individuals and families find stability, resources, and hope.🫶

This Social Work Month, we just want to say: we love our social workers. And we are endlessly grateful for the work you do! 💚

🍀 St. Patrick’s Day at AdCare 🍀

Worcester knows how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day... and we brought a little of that spirit inside our cafeteria yesterday!

With Irish music playing, our leadership team served cupcakes, cookies, and green punch to patients and staff. Everyone had a chance to come down, connect, and enjoy a sweet treat. 🍪

Because in recovery, even the small moments matter 💚

Fueling Recovery... Without Sacrificing Flavor 🍽️

It's National Nutrition Month, and we’re highlighting something we believe deeply: how we nourish our bodies plays a big role in recovery.

But let’s be real, healthy choices don’t have to mean bland, boring, or restrictive.

This month, we’re celebrating our March Employee of the Month, Felix Reyes, by sharing one of his favorite recipes: AdCare Baby Back Ribs 🔥

Because recovery isn’t about perfection. It’s about balance, sustainability, and actually enjoying the life you’re building. ❤️

Felix's AdCare Baby Back Ribs Recipe:
• 3–4 lbs baby back ribs
• 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
• 1 Tbsp brown sugar
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp salt
• ½ tsp black pepper
• 1 cup barbecue sauce (plus extra for brushing)

Directions:
Cook at 325°F, covered with foil, for 6 hours. Brush with sauce every hour.

✨ Nutrition in recovery isn’t about cutting everything out; it’s about learning how to care for your body in a way that feels good, sustainable, and real.

Because when your body is supported, your recovery is too.

👇 Let’s settle it: are you a dry rub person, a sauce lover, or both?
