Form & Function Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine

Form & Function Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Our mission is to provide the community with Functional Rehabilitation utilizing the latest research in Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine.

Form & Function is a private practice physical therapy outpatient clinic that believes in treating not just the pain, but the cause behind it. As a proud member of the community, our services are offered to improve quality of life – whether that’s getting you back to your favorite sport, or getting back to daily activities pain-free. If you succeed, we succeed. Functional Biomechanics relates to the 3 planes of movement in our bodies. The foundation of our practice is based on FUNCTIONAL BIOMECHANICS. This is a practice based on the most advanced research in biomechanics and rehabilitation, and is designed around the knowledge that our bodies move and react in 3D space. As a part of the community, we hold numerous free lectures and free warm up programs to athletic teams and groups on request, and stay involved with the local exercise community to keep them (and ourselves) up-to-date with the latest research in training and injury prevention.

Hi Folks,
A Facebook thread on Our Town: North Kingstown has come to our attention. It seems as though some people have had trouble getting in touch with the clinic lately. As we have been prohibited from commenting to the thread directly, we have decided to leave our response here in hopes that some folks will see or share.
We would like to assure everyone that we are in fact here and open for business Mon-Fri!
As you can see on our website, we are a very small team, and please trust us when we tell you, we are doing our best. We cannot and will not sacrifice the care that we give within our walls to answer phone calls all the time. If no one is available to answer your call, we are most likely attending to someone else’s needs. Admittedly, we no longer take phone calls during our lunch, because over the years we have discovered that that midday respite in the workday is necessary to be fully present for the second half of our days. We apologize for any inconvenience this creates for folks trying to schedule or get in touch with the clinic.
Please always leave a detailed voice message when you call, as we do not check missed calls with no additional information.
Please remember that we are real people trying to help other people in our community.
Helping our community members is our main goal here at the clinic. And although we wish we could make everyone happy, we are only a few people and we are doing our best. As mentioned by Sharon in the Our Town thread, we also agree that it is important to find a spot that suits your needs best. If we are not it for you, there are several wonderful places around, and we encourage you to find what is.
Thank you to the few of you who took the time to say a few kind words about your experience here at Form & Function. It really means a lot.
Your neighbors,
The Form & Function Team

ATTENTION PLEASE!!!
We are currently experiencing (and have been for about a week now), issues with our phone lines at the clinic. There have been outages in our area and we are being affected.
We have not been able to reliably access voicemails, our line is not ringing through, and when it does, the line is being dropped when we try to answer. Faxes are also being affected.
We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have/may be causing.
We appreciate your kind patience as we work to get the issue resolved.
For the time being, please contact us through email at contact@formptrionline.com

We've brought CBD back to the clinic, and it's better than before! We teamed up with local RI company, Flower Powered, and we now carry full spectrum, organic CBD in both topical roll-on and tincture forms.

If you aren't familiar, CBD can be used to help with muscle recovery, joint & muscle pain, sleep, stress, and anxiety. We occasionally recommend using the topical after pt treatment appointments or for muscle/joint aches and pains.

Hey, hey, our latest blogpost is live!
https://formptrionline.com/2021/05/11/adaptogens/
It's all about the wide ranging health benefits of adaptogens, where you can find them, and the best ways to take them!
Since there has been a lot of buzz around adaptogens of late, I want to take some time to chime in here as well. Knowledge about the health benefits that adaptogens supply has been around for centuries, and I'm happy to see them coming back into the spotlight.
If you are wondering what adaptogens are, they are plants or mushrooms that are non-toxic to humans. Adaptogens work non-specifically throughout the body to tone and strengthen all body systems at once. They can both calm or stimulate depending on your need, and they can help you maintain better cognitive function and focus. Adaptogens are especially good at helping to moderate stress, anxiety, and chronic fatigue by feeding and nourishing your adrenal glands.
In short, adaptogens can improve your stamina for on-going, day to day stress...and we can all use a bit of that!

What are adrenals, and why should you care?
Adrenal glands are not often talked about, but they are vital to many hormone-related functions in your body. They control blood sugar , burn protein and fat, react to stressors, and regulate blood pressure. The Adrenal Medulla is responsible for producing stress hormones including adrenaline and cortisol. Its main function is to act as a control to stress, but stress was never meant to be a constant. Presently, most of us are in a constant state of mild to moderate stress, and quite frankly, our adrenal glands just aren't built for it. As a result of the constant stress, our adrenals are constantly being taxed, and they are getting TIRED. Constantly fronting more and more cortisol and adrenaline eventually turns to chronic inflammation in any number of locations within the body. This leaves us with a variety of inflammatory issues from chronic headaches/migraines, to depression, weight gain, sleep problems, memory issues, concentration impairment and worse. Grim as it sounds, all is not lost. It may not be realistic for many (most) of us to quit our stressful jobs and eliminate all of our daily stressors to find a lovely balance and harmony in our modern lives, but there is something we can do. We can strive for RESISTANCE and RESILIENCE. We have the capacity to modify what we perceive as stressful, how we respond to those stressful events, and how we are then impacted by those events.

Hello everyone in social media world. In light of the rapid spread of covid19, we are shutting down the office for the next 3 weeks. From Monday March 23rd thru Sunday April 12th. Our profession is centered around contact and working physically with others, and while we've taken significant precautions to clean, sanitize, and limit people in the building, we have decided that for the safety of our patients and staff its best to close down. We will be conducting video calls with patients each week to continue to update their programs and check on their progress. If you are a current patient and would like any guidance with your program at home or have any questions, please call the office and leave a message as we will be in periodically to check them.
Please keep safe distances for others, stay home and wash hands often! We may decide to hold a Facebook live event to encourage you all to do some moving so stay tuned for any info.

We will be open for care and taking every extra precaution. We're asking everyone to use caution and be mindful of others. If you feel any sniffles, cough, or slight fever please refrain from coming in as we will have to turn you away. Call and inform us, give it a week to make sure it's only a cold or allergies and then call to schedule and get back in for care. Our ability to continue to give care depends on it! Thank you and wash your hands well and often!

Happy Halloween everyone! Have a fun, scary and safe night!
