I frequently get asked “who takes care of you?” Well, Friday I “tweaked” my low back. I had trouble bending, getting up and down. So what did I do??

I’ll break it down further and in greater detail, but basically I dialed things back for a while, did some stretching and movements that didn’t hurt, and repeated the process - once Friday, twice Saturday. Added some light walking on the treadmill Saturday (30 mins), and by today I’m 90% better. I did my normal Sunday weight lifting, slightly easier than normal, with no extra pain.

Acute back pain can be scary. But it doesn’t have to be.

With the impending snow storm, surely one of the news stations is going to trot someone out to tell you how to safely shovel snow to “protect your back”.

Here’s what they’re missing — are you healthy enough for strenuous exercise? Heart, lungs, muscles, joints, etc? If you’re not healthy enough to go lift heavy weights at a gym for at least an hour, then you’re probably not going to fare well shoveling, no matter how you do it!

Great first week back in the office after my medical leave. Thank you all for your trust and support over the years.
Since 1999, under a variety of different office situations, locations and leadership, I’ve tried my best to deliver the best care that I can.
We’re still working out some issues at the “new to us” Mercy Sahara Trail location. But, we’ve had good feedback so far. Everyone seems much happier with the parking and access. So that’s a plus.
I was told our new after-visit feedback system will lead you to a simple Google review. While I appreciate your honesty, if it’s anything less than 5 stars, please let me know so that I can personally address your issues.

Update: I was scheduled to return to the office on Monday 9/28, but I will unfortunately have to extend my medical leave an extra week. I will be back on 10/6/25. Sorry for the inconvenience.
