⭐️Staff SPOTLIGHT⭐️ This week we are happily highlighting one of our highly skilled and dedicated physical therapist, Rachel Cote. Rachel brings an enormous amount of creative energy and innovation to all her patients. Let’s learn more about Rachel:
⬛️ What inspired you to become a physical therapist?
I was always interested in the anatomy, injury prevention, and treatments, but I found out this profession existed when I was 16 at the Boston Ballet summer program. Two PTs from the children’s hospital came out to explain what they do.
⬛️ How long have you been practicing PT, and what areas are you most passionate about?
6 years! I’ve been passionate about research and neuro therapy, but here, I work with whatever the community needs. Balance, Parkinson’s, jaw pain, connective tissue disorder, etc. You have a tricky condition? Let’s figure it out together!
⬛️ What’s one thing you wish more people understood about physical therapy
We’re not anti- chiros, massage therapy, or holistic medicine for the most part. We’d rather work interprofessionally than reject what’s been working for you. If you’re wanting to see an RD, orthopedist, podiatrist, dentist, etc., let us know and we’ll recommend you some great people!
⬛️ What is your favorite food? Any local favorites?
I love Chick Fil-A. I get it once a month. Luckily, my husband and I enjoy cooking, so we eat Japanese, Korean, Greek, Israeli, American, and Filipino foods at home.
⬛️Morning or evening workout?
Used to prefer evening work outs. Now, with a toddler, I completely lost my routine. My goal this year is to include fitness and health into motherhood!
⬛️ TV show you’re currently binge-watching? Favorite movie?
Just finished Pluribus on Apple TV.
⬛️ Outside of the clinic, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
We enjoy hiking with good snacks, visiting families and friends around the globe, and finding good hole-in-the-wall eateries.
⬛️ What’s one fun or surprising fact about you that patients might not know?
I used to ride a unicycle in grade school, and I didn’t get a driver’s license until I was 24 y/o. This meant I couldn’t ride anything with more than 3 wheels until I was in PT school!
