The Sensory Sanctuary was the perfect place for some peace and quiet time amidst all the festivities. Kids colored, laced pumpkin sewing cards and made rainsticks.

What a joy to be with students at Hendrix Chapel to explore the questions, "Who am I? Who are we?" The students are loving and caring, intelligent and curious as the miniatures in their community tray demonstrate.

All are invited to walk, whether the labyrinth is brand new to you or a longtime friend.

Jodie Goens, Spiritual Director in Residence at NLRFUMC is offering a wonderful, prayerful opportunity for those who wish to participate.

👣You may be wondering, what is a labyrinth walk? The labyrinth is an ancient spiritual tool. It is not a maze, but a winding path from the edge to the center and back out again. It is a three-fold walk where you will:
1. Release your prayers
2. Receive from God.
3.Return to the World

The labyrinth helps to quiet the mind, be present to the body, and listen for the still,
small voice within. When we walk in community, we see we are all on a journey together, yet we are each on our own walk.

Event details:
Those who wish to attend will gather at 9 a.m.
A prayer and guidance for walking will be offered.
We will walk together.
Then you are welcome to go about your day or to linger on the grounds till noon.
This is a peaceful place that my husband and I are eager to share.
You may walk the labyrinth again, sit and pray, enjoy nature,
Journal, play or do your own art or handiwork.
Feel free to invite friends and family.

*Comfortable, closed toe shoes are suggested.
**Water, bug spray and sun screen will be provided.
***Carpooling is encouraged when possible.

I am looking forward to worship with the students of Hendrix!

Jodie Goens is Spiritual Director in Residence at First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock. Jodie has a passion for working with individuals and small groups to quiet the mind and reflect at a deeper level for the movement of Spirit in their lives. With her gentle presence and perceptive listening, Jodie is a companion to children, youth and adults while they explore the inner journey and connect to outer life with authenticity. Sandplay and the Labyrinth are tools that facilitate healing and growth path of transformation. Jodie earned a master’s in counseling from Louisiana Tech. She is retireed as a Licensed Profesional Counselor. Jodie is certified in Spiritual Direction through the Louisiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. She is trained in sandplay through the Sandplay Therapists of America. She is a certified Labyrinth Facilitator with Veriditas. Following a full career as a school counselor, Jodie is in awe of how her walk with God has unfolded.
