Did you know we offer nitrous oxide for clinical procedures such as IUD insertions and endometrial biopsies? 🌿✨

Nitrous provides a safe, fast-acting option to help reduce discomfort and ease anxiety during these procedures — all while you remain fully awake, aware, and in control. It wears off quickly, so you can continue with your day without missing a beat.

Did you know we offer in-house lab work? 🩸✨
Our blood draws are done right here at the birth center by our experienced and incredibly kind MA, Susan. Lab work gives us a peek into your health and helps us tailor your care to your needs— such as dietary and supplement changes to boost your iron or increase your Vitamin D. All of this information is imperative for remaining low-risk.

Having labs done on-site means less running around, quicker results, and a smoother, more comfortable experience during your prenatal and postpartum care. We hope you enjoy the home like lab area— set up with your comfort in mind.

Hand Expressing Colostrum 🤱✨
Colostrum is your baby’s first superfood—rich, concentrated, and packed with immune support. Hand expressing during late pregnancy (36 weeks+) can help you become familiar with your breasts, prepare for feeding, and collect a little extra “liquid gold”.

You can use stored colostrum for:
• Feeding baby if mom has a long labor or hemorrhage and feels unwell
• Early feeds if baby is sleepy or needs a little boost
• Supplementing instead of formula if medically needed
• Helping with low blood sugar or latch challenges in the first hours
•Later on when baby is sick or needs an immune boost

We encourage everyone to bring a syringe of expressed colostrum to their birth incase it is needed in the immediate postpartum.🌿🍼💛

At our birth center, we believe you deserve options that support both your health and your values. ✨

We screen for gestational diabetes because during pregnancy, hormonal changes can make it harder for your body to regulate blood sugar. Elevated glucose levels can increase the risk of complications such as macrosomia (a larger baby), preeclampsia, birth complications, and newborn blood sugar instability. Early detection allows us to tailor your care and support optimal outcomes for both you and your baby. 🤍

For glucose screening, we proudly offer The Fresh Test — a lab-standard alternative to the traditional glucola drink, made with clean, simple ingredients (just glucose, lemon, and mint!).

It’s a gentle, evidence-based option that meets all clinical standards while honoring your wellness. 🌿💛

Our birth staff regularly meets to perform emergency skills drills. These drills keep us prepared and all on the same page should an emergency arise. While the vast majority of low risk pregnancies go on to have normal uncomplicated births—we are prepared for the moments that they don’t. Practicing keeps our skills sharp and helps us hone in on any improvements that could be made to our set up or protocols.

Today’s training focus: neonatal resuscitation 🌬️👶

A newborn’s transition from womb to world is an incredible shift — from receiving oxygenated blood through the umbilical cord to taking that very first breath of room air. Most babies make this change smoothly, but our team trains for those rare moments when extra support is needed to help baby breathe and thrive. It is estimated 10% of neonates require some respiratory assistance at birth.

Your midwife is trained to recognize the signs of a smooth transition in that first minute after birth—and will provide assistance to a newborn that is not transitioning well. Everyone that attends births at the center is required to maintain NRP certification and attend these regular emergency drills.

Today we pause to remember the little ones who left too soon. And to honor the parents who carry their love and memory every day. We hold you all in our hearts. May you feel loved, seen and held today and everyday.

We invite you to join in on the Wave of Light. Take a quiet moment alone, or gather with friends and family and light a candle to honor your precious baby.

Friends and families of those who have experienced loss—your support is important. Ask parents about their baby. Say the babies name. Hold space for their emotions without judgement. Offer them a warm meal or invite them to light their candle together.

We know there are never enough words to describe the depth of loss, but we send so much love and light to you today and every day. 💕

The word "midwife" comes from the Old English/Middle English words mid ("with") and wif ("woman"), literally meaning "with woman"

Midwives walk along side you during the most sacred moments of your life. They hold space for life and loss. They see you in your most raw, vulnerable state. They look you in your eyes and tell you are safe, strong and powerful in the moments you feel like you can’t go on any longer. They sit on their hands as labor unfolds—yet are ready to use their valuable skills and tools at a moments notice.
In the vastness of labor, as the waves crash over you—the midwife is an anchor.
They quietly leave their families in the dark hours of the night at a moments notice, ready to serve. They drop everything at the door, no matter what may be happening in their own life, to bring peaceful and grounding energy into the birth space. Day in and day out they give the same care to every woman and family they have the privilege to witness.

Happy National Midwifery Week, to our midwives and every other midwife who has answered the call. Your work is so valuable.

If a midwife has impacted your life—we’d love to hear about it in the comments. 🥰
