Judy Kay Coble, née Smith, was born on September 27, 1942, in North Manchester, Indiana, to Virgil Ray and Beulah (Bollinger) Smith, and passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Judy's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to caring for children, a profession she embraced with both passion and devotion. Earlier in her career, she proudly owned her own child care business, and later continued to serve the community through various child care services, touching countless lives with her nurturing spirit.

On August 15, 1959, Judy married Jerry W. Coble. Their union was a beautiful partnership filled with exploration and shared dreams, including a love of travel that brought them joy throughout their years together. They were blessed with three children whom they raised in their hometown of North Manchester before relocating to Indianapolis. After Jerry’s passing on November 14, 2008, Judy eventually moved to Warsaw, where she continued to uphold the values and love that defined her life.

Known for her kind heart and warm spirit, Judy was a devoted Christian who embraced her faith with great sincerity. She belonged to Meridian Street Church of God during her time in Indianapolis and, after returning to the area, began attending First Church of God in Columbia City. Her faith was a cornerstone, guiding her actions and her interactions with all who knew her.

Judy’s family was the center of her world. She deeply loved her children and treasured the moments spent with her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. Despite enduring the profound sorrow of losing two of her children, Rodney and Christal, Judy's resilience and loving nature never waned. With a gentle sense of humor, she was fondly known as "the boss," a playful nod to her spirited personality.

The loving memory of Judy Coble will be forever cherished by her son, Jerry Keith (Mary) Coble, Warsaw; sister, Nancy Lee (Rusie Pudis) Eads, Warsaw; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Kristy Coble, Indianapolis. Carolyn K. Crist, a devoted community member and cherished individual, passed away on April 1, 2026, at the Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester, Indiana. Born on February 24, 1943, in North Manchester, to George F. and Hazel M (Baker) C**n, Carolyn’s life was marked by a genuine commitment to service, education, and the well-being of others.

A proud graduate of Manchester High School in 1961, Carolyn continued her education at Purdue University, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to learning and support. Her professional career reflected this dedication. She began as a nurse’s aide at Miller's Merry Manor from 1975 to 1983, providing compassionate care to those in need. Later, she worked at Heckman Bindery from 1985 to 2004, contributing her diligence and skill for nearly two decades. Carolyn also served at Lance's New Market from 1999 to 2004, and most notably, she was a receptionist and tutor at the Learn More Center in North Manchester, where she helped adults pursue their GEDs, empowering many to achieve their educational goals.

Beyond her work, Carolyn was known for her generous spirit and tireless volunteer efforts. She was deeply involved with Relay for Life and the Wabash County Cancer Society, through which she created hundreds of pink ribbons as symbols of cancer remembrance and hope. Her compassionate outreach and creative efforts left a lasting impact on the community she loved.

Carolyn was united in marriage to Clifford E. Crist on November 21, 1999. Though their time together was brief due to Clifford’s passing on March 10, 2000, their bond remained a cherished chapter of her life.

In her personal time, Carolyn enjoyed reading, especially works by Danielle Steel, engaging in crosswords and word searches, and watching television game shows and the classic series, The Andy Griffith Show. Her involvement in the Order of Eastern Star, Ivy Chapter #69, highlighted her commitment to fellowship and shared purpose within her community. Her faith was always an important aspect of her life. She was baptized in 1954 at the Manchester Church of the Brethren, then attended New Journey in Wabash, before going to Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren.

The loving memory of Carolyn Crist will be forever cherished by her daughter, Jennifer (fiancé Jessie Burkhart) Young, Muncie, Indiana; grandchildren, Michael Keaffaber and Felicia (Austin Johnston) Keaffaber; and the many lives she touched throughout her life. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford E. Crist; and brothers, Thomas L. C**n and George “Ted” C**n.

Jo Ann Joele Parker, a devoted mother, compassionate community volunteer, and a beacon of warmth and kindness, passed away at her home in Bloomington, Indiana, on March 31, 2026. Born on August 19, 1966, in Wabash, Indiana, to Larry Webb Parker and Nancy Dee (West) Parker, Joele's life was marked by her dedication to family, community, and a heartfelt desire to help others.

A proud graduate of Northfield High School, Joele left an impression early on when she won a contest that allowed her to assist in naming Sharp Creek Elementary School. This early accomplishment reflected her natural talents and community spirit, qualities that would continue to define her throughout her life. Following high school, Joele pursued higher education with a focus on Psychology, studying first at Ball State University and later at Indiana University. Her commitment to understanding and supporting children was evident as she worked in the field of Psychology, dedicating herself to improving the lives of young people.

Unfortunately, health challenges eventually led Joele to transition from her career to become a full-time homemaker. In this role, she devoted herself lovingly to caring for her son, Jared, embodying the nurturing and selfless traits that those close to her admired and cherished.

Since 1998, Joele found enduring love and companionship with Kevin Stewart. Together, they built a life filled with meaningful experiences and cherished memories, traveling and raising their son, Jared. Those who knew Joele recognized her extraverted nature-she encountered no strangers and brought warmth and friendliness wherever she went.

Throughout her life, Joele generously gave her time and energy to numerous boards and nonprofit organizations. Notably, she served on the Dental Care Center Board for fifteen years, where her commitment and passion for community health initiatives were profoundly felt. Additionally, she was deeply passionate about the new Gioship Homes project, which she supported with enthusiasm and dedication, having originated the idea of using bioceramics in affordable housing construction.

The loving memory of Jo Ann Joele Parker will be forever cherished by her companion, Kevin Stewart, Bloomington; son, Jared Parker Stewart, Bloomington; siblings, Dee Ann Hall, Patrick Parker, Melissa Schlemmer, Cynthia Parker, and Michelle Parker; and the countless lives she has impacted over the years. David Alvin Francis Sr., born on July 30, 1970, in Warsaw, Indiana, to James and Velvie “Bev” Lea (Francis) Dixon, passed away on March 24, 2026, at the Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Over the years, he contributed to various industries, lending his talents to Metal Works in Pierceton and multiple trailer factories. Beyond his roles within these establishments, David owned and operated D&D Salvage for numerous years, a testament to his hardworking nature and business acumen.

Throughout his life, David divided his time among Warsaw, North Manchester, and Prestonsburg, Kentucky, shaping a life rich with experience yet grounded in simplicity. Known for a kind heart and a deep passion for his family, he was a man who quietly embodied strength and steadfast principles, always striving to do what he believed was right. His gentle demeanor was accompanied by a keen sense of humor and a love for a good conspiracy theory.

David’s personal joys were many. He adored his grandchildren, finding joy and purpose in their lives. Simple pleasures such as sipping a cold Mountain Dew, enjoying fried potatoes with any meal, and participating in games of poker and moments of fishing brought him contentment and relaxation amid life’s challenges.

While David never entered into a legal marriage, his relationship with Cosondra Dawn Addair was a significant and enduring part of his life. The two shared eighteen years together until her passing in 2017, a bond that spoke volumes about his capacity for love and commitment.

Norma Jean Wilcox, 98, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, at Paddock Springs in Warsaw, Indiana. Born on June 7, 1927, in Urbana, Indiana, to Burvia and Mable (Long) Hoover, Norma lived a life marked by devotion, love, and unwavering faith.

After graduating from high school, Norma married Marvia Wilcox on April 6, 1947. Together, they shared nearly sixty-two years of marriage, during which they were blessed with five children. Their journey together was not without hardship, as they endured the profound sorrow of losing their daughter, Karen. Throughout it all, Norma remained a steadfast mother and devoted homemaker, dedicating herself fully to her family.

Norma’s life was deeply rooted in her faith and her commitment to her church community. She was a faithful Christian woman who attended North Manchester Missionary Church and taught Sunday school for an inspiring fifty years. Her devout spirituality was a guiding force in her life and an enduring source of strength for those around her.

As a devoted farm wife, mother, and grandmother, Norma’s family meant the world to her. Her love and care extended beyond her immediate family to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, for whom she lovingly created picture books, ensuring that her stories and memories would live on. She was renowned for her exceptional culinary skills, especially for her angel food cakes, homemade noodles, pies, cookies, and her expertise in canning and freezing the bounty of the seasons.

Norma’s many talents and hobbies reflected her creative spirit and nurturing nature. She was an excellent seamstress, a dedicated gardener who cherished working among her flowers, and one who found joy in puzzles and writing poetry. She had a fondness for animals, who were among her favorite living beings, symbolizing the gentleness and kindness that defined her character.

Barbara "Bobbi" Jo (Weitzel) Frye King, 73, formerly of North Manchester passed away peacefully Sunday, March 15th. She passed peacefully, surrounded by love, with family by her side holding her hand.
She was born January 17, 1953, in Wabash, IN to Rex and Colleen Weitzel. After the tragic loss of dad Rex at the tender young age of 9, she was gifted a wonderful bonus dad when her mom married Arden Metzger.
She was raised on a farm. She treasured her time and memories at her family's pond where she enjoyed fishing. She lived in North Manchester for the first part of life where she worked at Heckman Bindery and Bay State Abrasives. She would also take on second and third jobs working hard to provide for her family.
On July 24, 1992, Bobbi married Roy W. King who passed away on December 15, 2013. Together they made their home in Freetown, Indiana. She continued her strong work ethics and took pride in doing quality work. She worked for many years at Pretium Packaging in Seymour, IN where she retired.
She wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty. She was always willing to take on any challenge and help no matter the job. She had a special talent for refinishing furniture and found joy in bringing new life to old pieces. She loved her antiques and going to rummage sales to see what treasures she might find. She enjoyed mowing. She worked hard in her garden and loved baking zucchini bread for friends, family and coworkers. She loved nature and peace she felt from it. She often referred to being outside as her church knowing it was God's creation. She enjoyed mushroom hunting in the woods. She enjoyed feeding the birds and sitting on her deck. When inside, she enjoyed watching her shows on TV, doing crossword puzzles and playing solitaire.
Bobbi was social and loved laughing with others. She enjoyed helping others and being with her friends especially her longtime friend and neighbor Joni Cockerham. If not visiting together, they were always talking on the phone, often several times a day especially after they widowed. If you knew her well, you knew she loved her Diet Coke and chocolate. Above all, she adored her grandchildren and loved to spoil them whenever she had the chance. She was incredibly proud of each of their accomplishments.
Survivors include: One son, Mitchell Frye of North Manchester, Indiana, four daughters, Nichole Frye Kaiser (Kyle), Kelli Frye Wright, Jennifer King Shelton and Jamie King Mitchell (CR). Three sisters, Sandy Becker (Don), Becky McClelland (Frank) and Carol Weitzel Hawks (Muncie).
Grandchildren, Lexie Frye, Kylie Kaiser Bickel (Alex), Kaden Kaiser (Brailynn), Karissa Kaiser, Kaleb Frye, Baliegh Howard, Jaslynn Wright, Rachel Shelton, Steven Shelton (Jen), Rebecca Shelton, Catey Staggs, Dylan Mitchell, Dalton Mitchell.
Great grandchildren, Michael, Shiloh, Rex and Phoebe. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; bonus parent Arden; her husband; one grandson, Jamison Wright; and one sister, Sheryl Bowman.

Elizabeth "Liz" Parker Estep, a devoted Christian, beloved mother and grandmother, and dedicated worker, passed away on March 18, 2026, at her home in North Manchester, Indiana. Born Elizabeth Edelman on October 19, 1935, in Dry Branch, West Virginia, she was the daughter of George Edelman and Lillian (Clark) Burton.

Elizabeth's early years were firmly rooted in the traditions of her West Virginia heritage, values she cherished deeply and lovingly imparted to her children. A woman of profound welcome and warmth, she was known to those around her for her steadfast devotion to the Lord and her active involvement at Laketon Wesleyan Church in Laketon, Indiana. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her interactions and nurturing her generous spirit.

Professionally, Elizabeth was industrious and committed. For more than three decades, she dedicated herself to Gen Corp in Wabash, where her hands-on craftsmanship was both valued and respected. In addition to her primary career, she balanced part-time work at Timbercrest, demonstrating a tireless work ethic and a commitment to serving her family. Retirement offered no retreat from her industrious nature, as she continued to contribute at Manchester University in food service, providing care and nourishment with the same love and dedication that defined her personal and professional life.

Elizabeth’s life was one of quiet strength; she bore life’s challenges without complaint, embracing each day with a resolute spirit. She treasured her family above all else, showing particular affection for her grandchildren, who were the joy of her later years; and known as aunt Snooki by her nieces and nephews. Her legacy is carried on through the traditions and values she so lovingly instilled in her children and through the enduring impact she had on those who knew her.

Born on May 3, 1936, in Mogadore, Ohio, to Elden M. and Ruth L. (Beardshaw) Petry, Charles lived a life marked by dedication, passion, and a deep love for his family and the Lord.

Charles graduated from Anderson High School in 1954, setting the foundation for a lifetime of varied and impactful careers. He attended Manchester College, and he began dating Brenda Whitcraft when he met her at his father's revival meeting. Their love blossomed, and on July 12, 1959, they were united in marriage. Together, they shared sixty-six years filled with love, partnership, and the joy of raising three children.

Charles began his professional journey as a Church of the Brethren Minister, reflecting his unshakable faith and commitment to service. His vocational path led him to the automotive industry, a field that ignited his passion. Throughout his career in this sector, he held multiple roles, from mechanic, to manager, to business owner, demonstrating leadership and expertise. His abilities extended further as he took on the role of roundhouse foreman at Burlington Northern Railroad. Charles continued to diversify his work experience with ventures into RV sales, maintenance, and insurance sales.

Beyond his professional achievements, Charles was a man of remarkable talents and interests. He had booming speaking and singing voice, often blessing those around him with gospel music that honored his faith. He had a sharp understanding of mechanics, whether it was automobiles, trains, or home repairs. His hearty laugh and great sense of humor brought warmth and lightheartedness to his family and friends’ lives. Above all, Charles loved the Lord with all his heart and joyfully engaged in reading and teaching the Christian faith. On Sundays, he would worship at Oak Park Community Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was a member.

Charles’s legacy is that of a generous and loving man who prioritized his family and faith above all else. He will be remembered fondly for his kind spirit, his unwavering devotion, and the joyful energy he shared with those who had the privilege of knowing him.

The loving memory of Charles Eugene Petry will be forever cherished by his wife, Brenda Petry, North Manchester; children, Debra (Brett) Acker, York, Pennsylvania, Kathy (Thom) Baker, Wallkill, New York and Stephen (Janine) Petry, Huntington, Indiana; twelve grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lynn Shinkle.

A celebration of Charles’s life will be at a later date.

Florence M. Wagoner

Florence Marie Flora Wagoner, youngest daughter of Elder John Henry and Maudie Ellen (Rauch) Flora, was born March 15, 1930, near West Milton, Ohio. She passed away peacefully March 4, 2026 near Silver Lake, Indiana.

She was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church in September of 1948. She lived a happy, faithful life until her death.

On December 26, 1948 she was united in marriage to Harold Leroy Wagoner of North Manchester, Indiana. The son of Elder Eldo and Ida (Renicker) Wagoner, he passed away on August 12, 2018. Harold and Florence became the parents of four children, three sons and one daughter. They lived most of their married lives within the boundaries of the North Manchester and Eel River districts.

Florence enjoyed cooking; therefore, they enjoyed hosting many Sunday noon meals for their family and also church family. They enjoyed wintering in Lakeland, Florida, with singings every Wednesday evening.

Surviving are their children, Duane (Kathy) Wagoner, Roger (Carla) Wagoner, Rita (Randy) Burns, Dwight (Jennifer) Wagoner; eleven grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Leora Austin.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; parents-law; sisters and brothers-in-law, Velma (Lester) Flory, Miriam (Christian “Chris”) Brubaker, and Lois Brubaker, and Ralph (Esther) Flora; brother and sisters-in-law, Donald (Dorothy) Wagoner, Keith (Cleo) (Naomi) Wagoner and Charles Austin.

Family and friends may call Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Eel River Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 2128 East 1200 South, Silver Lake, Indiana. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Eel River Old German Baptist Brethren Church with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial will be held at the North Manchester Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery in North Manchester, Indiana.

George Pfeiffer

George Pfeiffer, 95, North Manchester, Indiana, passed away on March 3, 2026 at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester. Surviving is his wife, Joan; daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Aikins, Karen (John) Kestler, and Lorie (Tom) Shiveley; grandchildren, Michelle, James, Emily, Daniel, Bradley, Ann Marie, Elizabeth, Joseph, and Steven; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Rev. Robert Pfeiffer, Joseph Pfeiffer, and Edward Pfeiffer.

George was preceded in death by his father, John; mother, Elizabeth (Barta) Pfeiffer; daughter, Deborah Jones; sisters, Elizabeth Pfeiffer, Rose Mary Pfeiffer, and Jane Ann Schnuur; and brothers, John and Jacob Pfeiffer.

He was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in North Manchester. George was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was presented with the “Man of the Year” awarded by JC of C for starting an organization called INFORMATION, made to educate people on evils of Communism.

He served in the Air Force for four years during the Korean War, earning the rank of Airman First Class.

George retired from Cummins Engine Co. in 1985, where he was Manager of Product Assurance for the Engine Plant. After retiring, he worked as a consultant, developing quality systems. George spent many years in the lumber and hardware business, finally retiring in 2009. In 2018 George and his wife, Joan moved to North Manchester.

Family and friends may call Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 1203 State Road 114 East, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral mass will begin at the conclusion of calling with Father Daniel Koehl, Father Robert Pfeiffer, and Father Matt Pfeiffer officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana, at a later date.
