Beneath the towering Alps, a colossal feat of engineering is taking shape: a 64-kilometer tunnel that will connect Fortezza (Italy) with Innsbruck (Austria) through high-speed passenger and freight trains capable of reaching over 160 km/h.

It will become the longest underground railway tunnel in the world, surpassing the 57 km Gotthard Tunnel in Switzerland, which crosses the Alps and connects the cities of Erstfeld and Bodio.
