Matt Fosket Counseling LLC Nebraska therapist dedicated to supporting individuals through therapy, clinical supervision and consultation.

My clinical focus includes men's mental health, depression, anxiety, first responders, adoption, and LGBTQIA individuals. Finding the right therapist who understands and resonates with you is crucial in therapy success. I recognize the importance of this connection and emphasize building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and respect. I am committed to creating a safe and inclusive space where clients feel heard, valued, and supported in their unique experiences and struggles. By tailoring my approach to meet individual needs and utilizing my expertise in working with men's issues, LGBTQ individuals, and adolescents, I strive to foster a deep understanding and connection with my clients to facilitate meaningful growth and healing in therapy. I use EMDR therapy and other modalities while incorporating humor and creativity in my practice. I also extend my expertise by offering clinical supervision to new therapists statewide, guiding them in their professional growth and development. Through a compassionate and client-centered approach, I strive to create a safe and nurturing environment for clients and supervisees to explore, heal, and thrive.

Adoption isn’t a one-time event—it’s a lifelong experience that evolves over time.

Grief, identity, and belonging can shift at different life stages. Therapy for adoptees focuses on helping them name those layers safely and without shame.

Adoptees aren’t the children in someone else’s story—they are the story.

When we center adoptee voices, we move from assumptions to truth-telling about identity, loss, belonging, and the lifelong process of integration.

Professionally, this means approaching every adoption story with humility, curiosity, and respect for lived experience.

November is National Adoption Awareness Month—but awareness alone isn’t enough.

Many stories about adoption focus on love and rescue, but skip the complexity. Adoption involves deep loss, identity formation, and resilience—for adoptees, first families, and adoptive families alike.

As an adoption-competent therapist, I approach this month as a time to listen, honor grief, and expand understanding.

Follow along this month for trauma-informed insights about adoption experiences.

If your brain won’t just relax, there’s a reason.

What we call overthinking is often your nervous system doing its best to protect you.

When life once felt unsafe or unpredictable, your brain learned that scanning for danger helped you prepare.

That same system can stay switched on—looping through every outcome—long after the danger is gone.

So if you catch yourself replaying conversations or second-guessing decisions, it’s not proof you’re broken.

It’s proof you adapted.

You can thank that part of you for trying to help, then gently remind it: we’re safe now.
