Lupus Unplugged This is an account of me living with 2 different types of Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Raynauds, Anxiety, etc No one with Health issues should feel that way!

This is an account of me living with 2 different types of Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Raynauds, Anxiety, Obesity. I want to show how I live with them as a mom, GF, and just basically trying to have a life. I want people to be able to share their experiences with health issues or vent if they feel alone. Also I am hoping to encourage others with Lupus and other Health Issues to Share and Educate people.

There are different approaches to therapy, so it's important to talk with your therapist about which style of therapy (or modality) is best effective for you. Did you know, different modalities target different parts of your beautiful brain? Some modalities focus on the thinking part of our brain, that is where we can logically process certain situations or manage unhelpful thinking patterns. These are generally cognitive-based modalities.
Other modalities focus more on our feeling/somatic part of our brain and they actually by-pass the cognitive portions so that we can really get to work on what is troubling or blocking us. Brainspotting is a great example of this type of therapy modality and is useful for trauma work.

Be sure to talk with your therapist about which modality is best for you and your needs!

I haven’t written poetry in a LONGGGGG time… well I’m really feeling it tonight. No this isn’t a cry for help or attention, just emotions.

I quit
I stop moving
Time stands still
While everything and everyone are flying forward
No one notices
No one touches me
I don’t exist

There’s occasionally light
But I remain in darkness
No one is coming
No one will see me

There are big things happening
But it’s silent

No one cares
No one celebrates

I quit

The Marshmallow Test:
A study on delayed gratification and self-control
The Marshmallow Test, originally conducted by psychologist Walter Mischel in the late 1960s at Stanford University, is a renowned experiment exploring children's ability to delay gratification and its relation to future success.

The experiment:
Preschool children were presented with a choice: eat one marshmallow (or another preferred treat) immediately, or wait for a short period (typically 15 minutes) and receive two marshmallows as a reward. Researchers left the room, leaving the children alone with the temptation, and observed their behavior through a one-way mirror or video camera. Children could ring a bell at any time to have the researcher return and receive only one marshmallow.

Initial findings:
Original follow-up studies suggested that children who demonstrated greater ability to delay gratification in the marshmallow test tended to have more positive life outcomes as adolescents and adults, including:

Higher SAT scores
Better academic performance
Healthier lifestyles (e.g., lower BMI)
Better social and cognitive functioning
Better stress management
Stronger relationships
