William E. Brown

William E. Brown, born on August 29,1952, in Providence Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, at the Hopehealth Hospice Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Kathleen (Leveille) Brown. The love of his life who he was married to for 32 years. He was the father of the late William J. Brown and the son of the late John and Audrey (Thurston) Brown. He was a man who will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his genuine love for his family and friends.

William found his greatest peace outdoors, he loved fishing, quahogging, boating and spending hours by the ocean whether casting a line at his favorite spot or just enjoying the waves. One of his unique acts of kindness was by giving people rides in his car, whether he knew them or not, giving him the name “The Taxi Driver”, a small gesture that reflected his generous spirit.

He was a devoted family man whose greatest joy was his grandchildren and the time he spent with them attending their sporting events and other activities. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Kimberly Smith and her husband Robert; his son Gregory Brown and his wife Joanne; and his grandchildren Courtney Smith, Caitlin Smith, Olivia Cresci, Preston Brown and Gabrielle Brown. Their presence brought him pure love and happiness. He had a special way of making each grandchild feel valued and loved.

He is also survived by his siblings June Grossi, James Finucane, Susan Paliotta, Michael Brown and the late Joanne DiTrioa.

Those who knew him will miss his stories and his laughter.

The family asks that donations be made to the Hopehealth Hospice Center or time be spent outdoors in his memory-perhaps with a fishing line in the water, appreciating the quiet moments he loved so much.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
