Congratulations to one of our clinicians, April Tang, LCSW, for being invited to speak about anti-Asian hate and the shortage of Asian mental health services on NBC Boston! We feel honored to have such an amazing therapist in our practice.

The recent surge in anti-Asian hate is also triggering a demand for therapists in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities, but finding one, especially one who’s Asian, is proving difficult for many during the pandemic.

There is a growing need for mental health care in the U.S. and with more need comes more demand for services. Yet there has long been a shortage of mental health providers and the current therapists are burning out supporting everyone. We need listen to their stories, as they are, after all, human.

Why Us? Why Now?

For far too long, we've searched for therapists who look and talk like our clients, like us. We're the ones we've been waiting for -- so Elephant in the Room Counseling it is. 勇 means Courage & 毅 means Perseverance, both values we hold dear to create space for our clients to address their own version of "elephant in the room" and like our logo design, integrate & grow from such, onward & upward. Founded by a group of compassionate Asian Clinical Social Workers like yours truly ;) we are your multilingual therapists (Mandarin, Cantonese, Toishanese, Thai) who are passionate to serve populations from children, adolescents, adults, dating/engaged/married couples, and elderly. We hold space for our immigrant, LGBTQ+, and other minority communities. (currently accepting new clients, inquiries welcome!) Elephantroomcounseling.com
