So many things we eat and use in our all about convienice lifestyles were accidents.
An example of this is cornflakes.
John Kellogg who invented the corn flakes didn't create them on purpose.
His goal in life was to have a healthy lifestyle free of sin.
Kellogg was a doctor, nutritionist and advocate for health who became the superintendent of a popular health resort in Michigan in 1875.
Kellogg believed that eating simple bland food would improve digestion and would help people steer away from carnal sin. This idea was what he called "biological living"
One day he was working with a new kind of wheat meal to use for baking bread.
He had rolled some out on a baking sheet and it accidentally got left out overnight so instead of loaves of bread it produced flakey pieces which he thought could prove to be a breakfast item. His brother William thought for a little sweetness he would add some sugar.
It was a hit at the resort and created the excellent opportunity to market it under the Kellogg name.
They also went on to later accidentally invent Grape Nuts.
As we use corn flakes as a favorite cereal, or as a ingredient in cookies or meatloaf just remember that sometimes accidents can be blessings in disguise.
