Worry shows up differently as kids grow — and that’s normal.
What matters most is how intense it feels, how often it shows up, and whether it starts getting in the way of daily life.

This carousel offers general examples by age to help caregivers notice when worry may be shifting into anxiety. Early support can make a meaningful difference — and anxiety in kids is very treatable with the right tools and care. 🌿

All kids worry sometimes — and that’s part of growing up.

The difference between typical worries and clinical anxiety often comes down to intensity, frequency, and impact.

When worry is temporary and situational, kids can usually move through it with reassurance and support. When anxiety feels constant, overwhelming, or starts limiting daily life, it may be a sign that extra help could be useful.

At Lilac Therapy Center, we help children and families build tools for confidence, regulation, and emotional safety — one small step at a time.

Healing isn’t linear, and it isn’t rushed. Sometimes the most important work is happening beneath the surface, long before anything blooms. Give yourself time.

Parenting can bring up reactions that feel bigger than the moment.

From an attachment lens, these responses aren’t random or wrong. They’re often your nervous system responding to patterns learned long before you became a parent. Not conscious memories—but ways your body learned to stay safe.

Understanding why these moments show up creates space for compassion, regulation, and change. With support, parents can respond with more intention and less reactivity—building safety for themselves and their children.

Awareness is the first step. 💜

The Happiness Trap by Russ Harris offers a refreshing take on mental health that moves away from the pressure to “just be positive.”

This book is a powerful reminder that a meaningful life isn’t about avoiding discomfort, but about learning how to make room for it while staying connected to what truly matters to you.

You don’t have to feel “happy” all the time to live well. And you don’t have to be stuck in the struggle, either. 💜

We often tolerate unhealthy relationship patterns not because we don’t see them — but because they feel familiar.

Minimizing your feelings, inconsistent closeness, or boundaries that aren’t respected can quietly erode emotional safety over time. Healthy relationships don’t require you to shrink yourself, walk on eggshells, or earn consistency.

Secure connection makes space for emotional honesty, respect, and repair — without fear. Growth is possible, and support can help you get there. 🌿

Not all red flags are obvious. Some are quiet, familiar, and easy to explain away — especially when we’ve learned to prioritize connection over comfort.

A few commonly overlooked red flags include emotional unavailability, feeling responsible for someone else’s emotions, and apologies that don’t lead to change. These patterns often feel normal not because they’re healthy — but because they’re familiar.

Awareness isn’t about blame. It’s about noticing what your nervous system has learned to tolerate — and gently asking whether it still serves you. 💜

Healthy connection isn’t about needing others too much or not needing them at all.
It’s about learning how to stay connected without losing yourself.

Many relational patterns develop early as ways to stay emotionally safe. With awareness and support, those patterns can shift — creating space for relationships that honor both independence and closeness.

Secure relationships are built where autonomy and connection can coexist. 💜

Relationship Myth: Happy couples never argue.

In reality, conflict is unavoidable in close relationships. What matters most isn’t if conflict happens — it’s how partners repair afterward.

Secure attachment is built through repair: taking responsibility, expressing emotions without blame, and reconnecting after rupture. These moments aren’t signs of failure — they’re opportunities for growth.

Therapy isn’t about assigning blame to partners, parents, or ourselves. It’s about understanding patterns — many of which developed as ways to cope with earlier experiences. With insight and support, those patterns can soften and change.

You don’t need to be in crisis to work on your relationships. Growth can happen at any stage. 💜
