Like a moth to a flame!!! Cats just naturally want to find the nearest computer so they can lie on the keyboard don't they??? We got to meat Lil'Odder today from Decatur. She was a trap and release cat that had instant love for her momma and now gets spoiled, as every cat should.

Our office will be closed next Wednesdy and Thursday (February 25th and 26th).

Happy Monday!!

Today, I am going to post to help a dear client find a new home for her beloved 24 year old geldings Doc!

This is personal for me as Doc has been in my care for over a decade. He is a kind and sweet soul that currently gets low level dressage work 2 to 3x a week and is a walk trot ONLY gelding. He gets regular chiropractic care and normal traditional wellness.

We are seeking a loving home, preferably with other horses since these are herd driven animals. He is very much loved and will only go to the home most suited for him and thru Direct correspondence with his current owner. Oh yeah, we will be vetting a new potential owner because we love him too much for anything less!!

You may reach out to Dr. Coates if you have interest.

Well......we have gone LIVE with our website as of today!!! It's simple and concise and perfect for us :)

We still are working on the "OUR family" page where you will see the cute faces that have come through our doors and read some testimonials about their journeys from willing clients' submissions!!

By the end of the week we will also be LIVE on Instagram! Stay tuned for that so you can follow us on more than one platform!!

P.s. I always preach that growth comes in the uncomfortable moments (usually when talking to my rugby girls about training and trying to improve skills etc). I have to be very honest, social media is definitely giving me uncomfortable moments!! Guess that means we are going to experience growth and with that hopefully be able to help even more animals and parents along the way!!

THIS!!! And of course, I also encourage support of your metabolic centers (kidney and liver) and the lymphatics as well when getting vaccinated!!

Spring is around the corner, and while antibody titers are ideal for most core vaccines, rabies vaccination is required by law. For adult dogs, choosing the 3-year rabies vaccine is a smart option and research suggests spirulina can help support the immune response.

A peer-reviewed study found dogs fed a small amount of spirulina had a faster, stronger antibody response after a rabies shot, without immune overstimulation, inflammation stayed low and normal. These dogs also had higher stool IgA, the gut’s first line of immune defense, which helps block toxins, balance gut bacteria, and support long-term gut health.

Spirulina doesn’t overstimulate immunity; it supports immune communication, gut barrier health, beneficial microbes, and oxidative balance, think immune training, not immune pushing.

Safety note: Spirulina does not naturally produce BMAA. Risk only comes from poor sourcing (wild harvesting, uncontrolled ponds, lack of testing). Well-sourced, GMP-produced, batch-tested spirulina has very low risk, which is especially important for dogs.

Dosage: start with 1/4 tsp🥄 per 20lbs of body weight.

Never hurts to ask right?? We are building our website as we announced a few weeks ago. The truth is that I am trying to use Wix to build my site on my own. I am a lot of things, but tech savvy is not on the list, and I think I am in over my head.

Anyone have experience with using Wix, building websites, or have a personal reference for a website builder? I already have purchased my domains and Wix platform. I have watched countless you tube videos and have determined I am just not built to build websites :)

p.s. I think Oliver, in this pic, is already telling me to stay in my lane with what skills I do possess!

Well, we have set some very good goals for the business for 2026!! I must admit the goals are ambitious for someone like me who isn't tech savvy and very impatient at times .

This year we are building a new website (half way done), joining Instagram (pray for me), offering seminars (this is exciting), linking up with a social media marketer/ brand developer (thank goodness for connections) and going to put energy into being able to communicate well to all age groups!!

So, with the goals comes the request for help. For the new website I want to honor the animals that have been or are in our care. I want to have a remembrance page for the ones who are watching us from above, a page for those who want to be seen hanging out with us, and lastly a TESTIMONIAL page.

The website will take time, effort and care. I want it to represent all of those in our PVS family who have trusted us to care for their family members over the past 20 years.

If you would like to have your pet on our website or give a testimonial, please send us an e mail with a picture if your pet (you can also be in the picture) with a short testimonial or just the pets bio!! If your pet has passed, a small tribute would be very sweet with their picture!!!

Just thinking about the ones we have lost has me tearing up. I will put my beloved Elsie below. She was 18, my heart dog, my best friend. What I wouldn't give to have her back 🐾💔🐾

I have long said youre either FIGHTING disease or FEEDING disease based off of the food you eat!! Thank goodness pet owners are connecting the dots and demanding better for their pets than highly processed kibble

Well, this is new. And long overdue. And a bipartisan post; this post is about the US government recommending Americans eat more real food 🙌🏼. And why some doctors still diagree 🙀.

The USDA just flipped the food pyramid upside down. Literally. Lean meats, fresh vegetables, and fruits are now at the top. Grains and refined carbohydrates are at the very bottom. After decades of telling people to base their diets on high-glycemic, highly refined carbs, our government is officially prioritizing protein, roughage and antioxidants over starch. Real, minimally processed, nutrient dense food. And yes, this is an actual government meme.

It matters because the old guidance helped fuel an epidemic of obesity, diabetes, and cancer in humans. This mirrors what we see in dogs and cats fed ultra-processed diets every day, which raises an uncomfortable question:

When are veterinary organizations going to acknowledge this?

Veterinary medicine is now the last medical field still aggressively promoting ultra-processed diets as the foundation of health. The average bag of kibble contains roughly 30–60 percent refined carbohydrates. Dogs and cats do not require any starch, dyes, emulsifiers, flavorings, additives or preservatives, yet vets continue to defend these rendered, feed-grade industrialized food pellets as the holy grail of optimal nutrition 🤯.

Meanwhile, the human grade, fresh pet food segment is one of the fastest-growing categories in the pet food industry because modern pet parents are connecting dots; they are making healthier food choices for themselves and their families. They are recognizing that extreme heat processing of ultraprocessed fast food does not create health, it damages tissues, metabolism and immune resilience over time.

Human nutrition policy has finally started to admit what biology has always told us; eat fresher, lower glycemic, less refined foods. Reduce the amount of highly refined, high carb foods going into your body, and into your pet’s body.

Medical doctors, for the two and four legged, should be leading this conversation, not lagging behind it. At least human doctors aren’t recommending consuming only ultra processed foods (which still happens routinely in vet med).

The longer the animal medical community resists acknowledging the role of real, fresh, minimally processed food in the long-term health equation for all of us, the more out of step it becomes with emerging science, with pet parents and patient outcomes, and with common sense. At this point, it’s not just frustrating, it’s starting to feel embarrassing.😶
