As temperatures drop and winter weather moves in, we want to pause and express our deep gratitude to Wilkes County, NC and Wilkes County EMS and all other agencies involved for the incredible work that went into opening an emergency shelter for our community during this cold snap.

It wasn’t that long ago—just a couple of years—that Wilkes Recovery Revolution found ourselves responding to a winter storm by working alongside law enforcement and community partners to get people who were in danger into hotel rooms. It was no small task. And once again, our community stepped up in a big way, offering financial support, resources, and compassion to make sure no one was left out in the cold.

Seeing Wilkes County lead this coordinated effort truly warms our hearts. We recognize that opening an emergency shelter takes a tremendous amount of planning, logistics, and collaboration—especially in the midst of severe weather. This is what community looks like in action.

We are thankful for the county’s leadership and for the many partners who came together so quickly to make this happen for Wilkes County, including John Battle with Duncan Electric, Samaritan’s Purse, and Keith Huffman with Fair Value Marketplace. This work is a powerful reminder that when we come together, we can protect our neighbors and care for the most vulnerable among us.

Thank you for showing up for Wilkes County. 💙

🎉 North Carolina’s First Connect Appalachia Recovery Friendly Workplaces Are Official! 🎉

Featuring RFNC Advisors: Kit Roberts (WCI, Inc.) & Mindy Wright (Sunrise Community for Recovery & Wellness)

🏆 The Appalachian Regional Commission recently announced a $9.2 million ARISE award to the Fletcher Group to launch Connect Appalachia, a regional initiative to advance job readiness and employment opportunities for individuals in recovery across six states. North Carolina’s hub for this effort is Recovery Friendly NC (RFNC), housed at Recovery Revolution, serving as the state anchor.

We’re excited to celebrate a HUGE milestone for Recovery Friendly NC and Connect Appalachia! Under the ARC-funded initiative, North Carolina has officially designated its first Recovery Friendly Workplaces — thanks to the leadership and collaboration of our RFNC Advisors, Kit Roberts (WCI, Inc.) and Mindy Wright (Sunrise Community for Recovery & Wellness).

👏 Congratulations to our newly designated Recovery Friendly Workplaces:
