Thank you & for the community, remembrance, and celebration π₯ π
Alex came in 3rd place out of all the runners π½ π¨, and Ferris and I had a blast cheering everyone on from little creeks and paths exactly as we never imagined life would be!
Our first pregnancy was a girl. She had a cystic hygroma and Downs Syndrome and passed in utero at 12 weeks gestation. It was complicated and I didn't feel great about my medical care. We had 3 months of pregnancy - dreaming and scheming all that life could be before her last day with us. We saw a lot of rainbows and found comfort in the symbol of strawberries wherever we went that Fall. Exactly one year later on Sept 6, 2020 I went into labor with our rainbow kid, Ferris π .
Empty Arms was the absolute best community resource that held our family in 2019. I am so grateful for its existence, its expansion, and all that this organization continues to do for families moving through pregnancy and infant loss.
I became a doula because of our loss. I wanted families to know their options and to be a human along their path that could hold any and all grief that comes up in the spaces of both birth and death.
So beyond grateful for Carol and her team. It is pretty amazing how much life comes from what we move through. π
