This winter, Amanda Harrison, our VP of Community Services, and Gina Krosoczka, our Director of Development, had the pleasure of joining Crystal Kane of Happy Valley Realty on her podcast, Put the Happy Back in Hour, recorded at Easthampton Media. Crystal is a local author with a passion for community, shines a spotlight on area businesses and nonprofits, sharing their stories and celebrating the vibrant culture of the Pioneer Valley.

We were honored to join her as we enjoyed delicious local Bash*ta Orchards cider, because that is what is so important to Crystal: supporting local businesses!

Crystal dove into thoughtful questions about Cutchins’ mission and our programs. We brought along toys to spark conversation about play therapy and the integrative approaches we use to provide children with the best possible care. Our discussion touched on the mental health crisis and the profound effects of trauma on young lives. True to her generous spirit, Crystal kept asking how she could make a difference: volunteer, donate, follow us on Facebook and Instagram, share our posts, come to our events, support our dancers and runners at the events, contribute to our auction, and help break the stigma around children’s mental health.

💖Introducing our Local Star Jarrett J. Krosoczka and his incredibly talented dance partner, Dr. Jacqueline Kates! Jarrett is a New York Times Best Selling local author with 50 titles spanning picture books, graphic novels, young adult memoirs, and audiobooks. Jarrett has been open about his childhood trauma and the mental health benefits of creativity and art from the TED stage to the pages of his graphic novels. He enjoys being a “dance dad” and is excited to take the dance floor!💖

✨Dr. Jacqueline Kates is a physician practicing medicine in the Pioneer Valley since 2006 and an educator, Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UMass Chan Medical School - Baystate. From childhood through her early twenties, Dr. Kates could be found on stage, dancing, singing, and performing in musical theater. Dancing with the Local Stars marks her first time dancing on a stage in 30 years! ✨
