I sincerely mean this—I want there to be a good doula match for every single family who wants birth and postpartum support. This means we need true diversity and representation!
It might feel more or less important in certain settings to have someone who you feel shares a commonality with you.
Imagine what might feel important to you during a vulnerable time: Speaking the same language? Sharing cultural norms and traditions? Someone who is older than you or younger than you?
You can be that person for someone! Each and every person has something to contribute based off of their lived experiences.

Postpartum doulas provide active support for parents in so many ways—especially those who don’t necessarily have familial support or close friendships to lean into in the wild tender early parenting days. Adding postpartum care to your birth doula practice can be extremely beneficial -or- solely offer scheduled postpartum care that doesn’t require you being on call. In Western Mass, rates typically range between $28-$50+ per hour.

🗣️ Say it with me: Birth by cesarean is not a passive event!
I often find that parents who are having planned cesarean births feel less empowered, and as if they have less choice or participation in welcoming their new baby. A huge piece of that is that their education about childbirth options may not cover planned cesareans (if it includes cesarean birth at all).

Have you ever wondered what the world looks like from a baby’s perspective? What features they might make out on the people who surround them? What colors might look like to a newborn? 👀
I found this cool (and free!) app, “BabySee”, that lets us do just that! I thought it might be fun for some of you, doulas and parents alike, to check out and possibly share with people that you know.

We’ve heard your feedback! Folks expressed the extended retreat was hard to make happen with busy fall schedules, so we condensed priority topics into a robust, in depth, one day event! You can still book a stay overnight at Temenos Retreat Center, but no need if you’d rather commute!
You love birth work, and you know it asks a lot from your body, heart, and spirit. This one-day gathering is designed for doulas with a few births under their belts who want to deepen skills, replenish energy, and connect with peers who understand the joys and challenges of this calling.
We’ll meet in the serene beauty of Temenos Retreat Center in Shutesbury, MA for a rich day of learning, practice, and connection. You’ll leave with new ideas you can bring straight to your clients and a renewed sense of purpose and community. Taught by Certified Professional Midwife, Michelle L’Esperance-Muñoz, with experience supporting 700+ births.
