📊 Colonoscopy Quality Metrics: What They Mean for YOU

Not all colonoscopies are created equal. GI societies define quality benchmarks that help ensure colonoscopies are thorough, safe, and effective at preventing colon cancer. Here’s what those numbers really mean — in plain language 👇

🔍 What doctors track behind the scenes:
• Cecal intubation rate – Did we reach the very beginning of the colon? (Goal: >95%)
• Withdrawal time – How carefully the doctor looked while coming out (Goal: >8-9 minutes)
• Adenoma Detection Rate (ADR) – How often precancerous polyps are found (higher = better)
• SSL Detection Rate (SSLDR) – How often we detected subtle flat precancerous polyps that can be harder to see (higher = better)

✅ Updated 2025 GI Society Goals vs. Our Results:
• Cecal intubation: 99.9% (Goal >95%)
• Average withdrawal time: 15.4 minutes (Goal >8-9 minutes)
• Female ADR: 40.3% (Goal >30%)
• Male ADR: 56.3% (Goal >40%)

CGH HOLIDAY PARTY FUN! On Saturday night our annual holiday celebration was made even better by the fabulous Bears comeback! We were celebrating an amazing year of growth and exceptional patient care with our truly wonderful team. Our own Dr. Phil Chung's band, Sideways, brought the energy to the next level! Thank you to 28 Mile Distilling Co. for hosting our incredibly fun event. And thank you to the Chicago Bears for coming through again! We look forward to more celebrations like this in the future as we continue to grow - our beautiful new location will be opening this spring at 630 Dundee in Northbrook and we have another new physician starting this summer, Dr. Lauren Bloomberg!
