Whether your student is entering high school, struggling in college, or somewhere in between, we are here to help them find the best college and post-secondary fit for them.

Jordan serves high school students with learning differences. His goal is to help students who may need intervention find success in the student’s current school or find a more appropriate fit for the struggling learner. He has immense personal experience with education, psychology, consulting, and navigating learning disabilities.

Jill has worked in the field of special education for over 40 years and has been an educational consultant since 1999. As she worked at the university level, many of her students were transfers whose colleges did not offer them the level of support necessary for academic success. As Jill began to investigate colleges for her own son with learning disabilities, she realized the information could be shared with other families who had students with learning issues.

As parents, breaks from school can be difficult to navigate–but the right plan can make breaks manageable and beneficial.

Here are 6 tips for spending spring break with a neurodivergent student:

🗓 Keep a loose routine.
Everything may not be as structured as it is when your student is in school, but keeping some sense of normalcy will help your student adjust to the change in schedule.

🤝 Practice skills.
Whether these are academic, social, or executive functioning skills, doing something every day to continue developing your students skill set will ensure he stays on track, even while on a break.

⏰ Maintain a sleep schedule.
Consistent sleep supports executive functioning and emotional regulation. The more you maintain your student’s normal sleep schedule, the less difficulty they will have transitioning back to a normal routine when school starts.

🗣 Encourage your student.
Spring break can be a time when students check-out from learning. Summer is close, and they are ready to be done with school work. Use this time to encourage your student by celebrating progress and setting realistic expectations for finishing the semester strong.

🗒 Review notes and documents.
Now is the time to look ahead. Go over any notes your student has from school, and take some time to review documents for next year’s school planning.

🎉 Have fun.
Don’t forget to enjoy time together. Do things that you both enjoy, and make some exciting memories together!

Save this post for a plan to navigate spring break with your student, and connect with our team today to learn more about JJB Educational Consulting services.

When your student learns differently, college tours can leave you with more questions than answers.

We help families focus on the schools that actually make sense based on how their student learns and lives. That includes looking beyond rankings and thinking through housing setups, support services, class sizes, and daily life on campus.

Plus, we prepare students and parents for what to ask, what to observe, and what to expect, so you can walk in with purpose instead of uncertainty!🏫

Graduating high school and getting into college don't always have the same requirements, and that difference can catch families off guard if planning starts too late.

We work with students starting as early as 8th grade to help them choose the right classes, build a path that actually reflects their abilities, and avoid the kind of last-minute scrambling that leads to stress, missed deadlines, or the wrong academic fit.

Want to feel ahead of it for once? We’re here when you’re ready to start.🙌

If your student has a neurodivergent mind or other learning differences, a full course load can quietly chip away at their confidence, especially when they’re expected to manage college demands without adjustments that reflect how they learn best.

This may mean:
📚 Registering for fewer classes during the semester
☀️ Using summer sessions to balance the academic year
📝 Requesting accommodations for tests or assignments
⏰ Adjusting schedules around energy levels and executive functioning
🧩 Designing a plan that plays to their strengths, not against them

A more thoughtful approach now can prevent unnecessary stress later. If you’re unsure where to start or what’s possible, send us a message. We’re here to help you and your student navigate this. 💬📘✨

Trying to plan high school for a student with a neurodivergent mind can feel like walking a tightrope.

You want to challenge them, but not overload them. You are looking at testing reports, course options, and extracurriculars, trying to figure out what genuinely matters for college (and what doesn’t).

Between confusing paperwork and well-meaning advice that doesn’t always fit, it’s easy to feel stuck. That’s where real, individualized guidance can make all the difference, helping your student stay on track without burning out.

If your student is missing classes and exams, it’s not always about laziness or lack of motivation. When ADHD and autism are in the mix, routines can fall apart quickly, even for students who care deeply and want to stay on track.

That’s why we meet with students as often as they need, help them manage college testing and scheduling directly during sessions, and take homework off the table entirely for both students and parents. Everything we do happens together, in real time, so nothing gets lost between appointments. ⏰📲

If your student is in middle school and you’re already thinking ahead to high school, this is the perfect time to lay the groundwork.

We’ve supported families who come to us once grades are slipping or stress levels are high, but starting as early as 8th grade gives your student the space to build strong habits before it all feels urgent.

With more time, they can explore tutoring without pressure, plan realistic schedules, try summer programs that boost confidence, and make informed decisions about courses with college in mind. Early planning gives students with neurodivergent minds a path that feels manageable, because they’re not racing to catch up.

If you’re starting to think long-term, we’re here to help map it out. 📘🗓️

Late January is often when students start to realize they missed a deadline for testing accommodations or that their schedule isn’t working the way they expected.

This is a common point in the semester where a little structure can make a big difference. Staying aware of midterms, tracking accommodation timelines, and adjusting routines early can help students feel more grounded and confident as things pick up. 📅

If your student is starting to feel the weight of the semester, you’re not alone. Support and planning can help create a smoother path forward.

Behind every college acceptance is a journey, one that often includes late nights, self-doubt, resilience, and a whole lot of behind-the-scenes effort. 🎓

We understand that for students with autism and ADHD, the path forward isn’t always linear, but it is possible. With the right support, guidance, and encouragement, these students discover their strengths, build confidence, and make progress they can be proud of.

We’re honored to walk alongside them, not just at the finish line, but every step along the way. 💙
