LtGen Broadmeadow will officially transition from his Board of Trustees position to the presidential office on May 1, 2024, which will mark the first time in more than three decades that a Norwich alumnus will lead the school as its president.

“John Broadmeadow is the right person at the right time for Norwich,” said DeForest. “His exceptional combination of personal connection to Norwich, his work as a Board of Trustees member, and lifetime of continued service to the University uniquely positions him to step into the leadership role as the 25th president of Norwich University.”

“Ever since arriving in the Fall of 1979, Norwich, its ideals, and its people have been central to my personal and professional life,” explained Broadmeadow. “I am deeply honored that the Trustees have placed their faith in me to lead our University at this pivotal time. TO: Entire Norwich Community – Faculty, Staff and Students

RE: Emergency Notification Test – Thursday September 29, 2022; 11:00 a.m.

On Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., Norwich University will conduct a TEST of the emergency notification system (RAVE), which involves an on-campus siren and related messages.

Please note: There were updates to RAVE, so please go into your Banner account to make sure that all the phone numbers you want emergency notifications to go to are listed there.

For those on campus: Norwich University Department of Public Safety will be conducting a test of the emergency siren over the iforce 1600 loudspeaker, located on the top of Chaplin Hall. This test is only to test the functionality of the loudspeaker. The test should last approximately 3 -5 minutes as it runs through a cycle. We apologize for any inconvenience or disruption to your day. Thank you for your cooperation. There is no need to take any action at the time of the test.

For those on and off campus: The test also sends out a notice via the RAVE notification system to all students, faculty and staff, to include CGCS (online) students. This test is to ensure that you are getting any emergency notifications, which are sent via the RAVE system.

For now, please do the following:

1. Note this important event on your calendar.

2. Ensure that your emergency personal contact information is accurate and up to date. The RAVE system utilizes your contact information in Banner. Here is how you can check your information:
o Log into your Banner Web account.
o Click on “Personal Information.”
o Click on “View/edit your emergency notification system information.”
o Click on “Go to RAVE.”
 At this point, you can view, edit and test all of your contact numbers for your land line phone, your cell phone (text), and your email. NOTE – If you see a “confirm” button on any of your contact lines, please click on that button to make the confirmation official.
o Students Please Note: If your emergency notification is being directed to additional devices, such as to other family members, please let them know that this event will be happening and that it is only a test.

Thank you for your participation in this important matter.
